Great effort, Send It To Me!

However:

'Time Waits for No One: Anthology 1971–1977' - 1 June 1979

Good catch!

Send it to me, you don't take the archives and the home videos into account.
That means we had less empty years I think
We also had On Air in 2017
El Mocambo in 2022
GRRR Live, Shepherds Bush and a few more

True. I guess I don't "count" official bootlegs and videos in my mind for these purposes, for whatever reason.

In 1999(?), there was the - awful - ‘It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll charity single, featuring Mick and Keith. They feature in the video, too, if I recollect correctly.

In 1990 25 x 5: the continuing adventures of the Rolling Stones was released. And in 2007, they released the 4 DVD boxset 'The Biggest Bang'.

To me an active year is either touring or a release of newly recorded material. Re-releases keep coming anyway with very little effort from the band members -
with an exception for their boss member, Sir Michael Jagger, who, at least, take some part in these re-releases.

Mick also does the theme song "Strange Game" for the series Slow Horses (2022-), which is starting Season 5 on Apple TV+ this summer/fall.

Great show with Gary Oldman.

That's a great song, great show too. And the books. I wonder if that London feel crept in to Hackney Diamonds after writing Strange Game - Whole Wild World, Live By the Sword.

Was the last year of absolutely zero 2009? No live album, no hits comp, no archive, no new. Prior to that was 1992 I think.

Funny, I thought a lot about the same topic yesterday and for 2009 and 1992 I had to look online If there was anything. But as already mentioned in 2009 there was the Ya Yas Release and in 1992 it was Live at the max which was released to IMAX cinemas (although it had its premier in 1991). So I don't think there was any year in the history without any release or a Tour.

LOL I forgot about the iMax movie.

Can one really count reissues? A hits comp... yes, but a reissue? In argument, it's something, so sure.

Were there any Rolling Stones releases in the year 2000?

As I recall, nothing in the year 1999, in the year 2000 or in the year 2001.

Funny that MADE IN THE SHADE, SUCKING, REWIND and JUMP BACK were included on those lists but not TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE.

Also ROCKS OFF/LSTNT movie was 1982 and 1983 and apparently reissued in 2010.

For some bizarre reason, it was released everywhere, except North America. Until a few years' back, I had never heard of it. In fact, it's just a very strange release. Made In The Shade and Sucking In The 70's were global releases, right?

As far as I know they were.

It is weird that TIME wasn't released world wide but as I recall it was a part of their EU record deal for distribution.

The timeline put up - 2006 2007 they were on tour. I forget what singles were released, Biggest Mistake in 2006 probably, and THE BIGGEST BANG video box set in 2007, but they were "present" in that sense of being on tour.

But yes no actual new releases. No anything. Unless you want to count video singles, singles or playing Super Bowl 40.

At this point it's silly that they haven't released deluxe reissues of a few albums: BAB, ER, U, DW, VL and BTB.

There's not much at all for a STEEL WHEELS deluxe unless they do

- B sides (one of which is from the U sessions)
- what little is leftover from the sessions
- a live album from Europe

GHS would've been stronger with:
- Through The Lonely Nights
- Tops
- Waiting On A Friend

The SG deluxe was weak with extra tracks - SO MUCH BETTER could've been released.

ER and U deluxes could be killer. Even DW.

Somewhere along the way someone got an idea to NOT release MEMORY HOTEL in 1999 because of the live album. Yet nothing from that (supposedly SW-BTB extras) has been issued.

Time waits for no one. That includes the fan base.

A revised - and corrected - version of Barkerboy2's list:

No Hot Rocks, Metamorphosis, Stone Age (to name only a few) and all those ABKCO compilations released in the 70s? As for the group and solo releases (singles and b-sides, collaborations, tributes, etc) there's plenty enough that if gathered would fit in a nice box-set.

With regards to all those ones that were released digitally in 2012, I was going by the physical releases which spreads them out a bit. Doing that made 2014 a little more prolific lol!

"The Rolling Stones, taken in 1966 by Art Kane. Originally photographed in London by Art Kane for McCall’s Magazine’s 1966 photo essay‘ Teen Idols’, Kane lay on his back and had the band circle him from above, looking down, a nod to the ‘Rolling’ part of their name. The pose has been recreated again and again by other photographers and bands, notably by Jim Marshall and The Jefferson Airplane who did theirs a year after Kane created his image with the Stones."

Fifty years ago this month, the Rolling Stones issued a press release confirming that Ronnie Wood would be joining them on their upcoming Tour Of The Americas (TOTA).

Ronnie's first show with the Stones would take place on his birthday that year, and this year we are celebrating his 50th year with the band with something very special.
