While there's certainly a high chance that no more big tours will happen I highly doubt they'll be doing one offs. Everyone knows how long they need to rehearse and how rusty they are at opening shows. A residency would be more likely although many fans would prefer a real tour. But If they don't feel like doing it anymore then it is like that. We had wonderful tours. The Stones were present for my whole life. But we all know the end is near and maybe already took place in Ridgedale last year...

And I remember 15-20 years ago on these same boards people telling me limited touring like they have been doing since 2012 was doubtful.

The effort for a one off show is way to big. It doesn't make sense. If you tell me they're doing 5 Shows in London and 5 Shows in Paris I would say yes but rehearsing minimun 3 weeks for one Gig? That will never happen. And they never did it expect maybe Hyde Park 1969 but that was a few years ago...a one off could only be something like 3 songs on a large bill of acts. But not a full Show.

well we'll see what happens

but i share hockenheim95's skepticism about them just doing one offs going forward

it took these guys a week to rehearse for the racket show in 2023 and they only played seven songs

a full show takes significantly greater time and effort and doing all that for a one off festival show seems unlikely to me

residencies seem more practical

playing like six shows each in london and paris makes sense for there personal comfort since they likley have homes or places to stay in those areas

then tack on 2 or 3 festival dates and you've got 14-15 shows

could work in the us too if they set up in los angeles or new york

I think an adjusted model is very plausible where they do let’s say 3-4 London,
2-3 Paris, and whatever else. It was discussed in the 2024 tour how the 2nd nights always had a little more juice than the first night in cities that got doubles. Check MetLife #2

What may be meant by large scale touring is no more runs where they see 15 cities or so. I really don’t think that performing all together is done, of course given health is a non factor which it seems everyone is ok

Maybe for you. But you don't know what they consider an appropriate level of effort for however much time on stage they choose.

As Keith still owns ‘Redlands’, perhaps he’ll let Mick Kip on his sofa grinning smiley

Quite possible, I suppose.

For me, it's whether they'd ever 'officially announce' an end to touring. Even if they know themselves, a part of me suspects they'd always leave the 'door open'; even if that is just for a 'one-off' or a very limited run of shows.

Maybe there is a tour in the Fall or maybe they're testing the waters to see if a residency would be a good option. One thing I believe is guys like these won't retire, I think it's in their blood.

Going into the studio is not the usual sign of retirement, I'd say smiling smiley

No, I'm not convinced they'll ever 'officially retire'; until Mick or Keith pass away, that is. That was point, earlier: even if they know there will be no-more touring, they simply won't say so.

Apart from StonesDoug's Facebook post last month, there have been no followups/updates to support that claim.

There were some pictures of the truck?

The truck was apparently a generic hauler, not Stones specific.

But without proof that it is a current picture. Could also be from the 2024 rehearsals - [iorr.org] .

StonesDoug is a reliable source, of course.

All we've gotta do is hope the songs are good! thumbs up

It's possible, but he's been running a popular forum for decades, and is very well thought of. He's undoubtedly reasonably informed on 'some' of the inner happenings.

And this post about the recordings was by himself or someone else? Why was there no independent post from another source confirming the recordings?

And it's outside a studio specifically used for rehearsals for touring acts. Of which there are so many they can't even be quickly counted. AC/DC rehearsed there in 2023. I meant to swing by in recent weeks but never really got around to it.

What does everyone think of an extended residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas?

No. I go to see The Stones, not graphics on a ceiling.

Bands are not allowed to use their PA equipment. The Sphere has it's
system that can only be used.

Bands are the secondary attraction when you in there.

Look at some pictures of U2 from The Sphere.

People ‘hearing’ would defeat the object of it being ‘private’, though. Nobody is meant to know, other than those invited! SShhh… winking smiley

if you invite more than 10 people to a party it's hard to make all of them keep their mouth shut – especially if something unsual had happend at that party (and a lot of people have been involved in organizing that party)

I find it very hard to believe that the Rolling Stones would play at a private party, and no one spoke out about it or even heard anything about it.

I am sure some of us with inside contacts would hear about it or have inside knowledge of an event.

Especially the media here in the US. They have their noses in everything.

Nothing on social media makes it more difficult to believe.

True, but it's not always the case. There's countless examples of media outlets taking their info from here or from other fan sites.

Exactly. There would be a phone picture or video of something. Shoot, when they have rehearsals someone is outside recording these days.
