While there's certainly a high chance that no more big tours will happen I highly doubt they'll be doing one offs. Everyone knows how long they need to rehearse and how rusty they are at opening shows. A residency would be more likely although many fans would prefer a real tour. But If they don't feel like doing it anymore then it is like that. We had wonderful tours. The Stones were present for my whole life. But we all know the end is near and maybe already took place in Ridgedale last year...
And I remember 15-20 years ago on these same boards people telling me limited touring like they have been doing since 2012 was doubtful.

The effort for a one off show is way to big. It doesn't make sense. If you tell me they're doing 5 Shows in London and 5 Shows in Paris I would say yes but rehearsing minimun 3 weeks for one Gig? That will never happen. And they never did it expect maybe Hyde Park 1969 but that was a few years ago...a one off could only be something like 3 songs on a large bill of acts. But not a full Show.

well we'll see what happens
but i share hockenheim95's skepticism about them just doing one offs going forward
it took these guys a week to rehearse for the racket show in 2023 and they only played seven songs
a full show takes significantly greater time and effort and doing all that for a one off festival show seems unlikely to me
residencies seem more practical
playing like six shows each in london and paris makes sense for there personal comfort since they likley have homes or places to stay in those areas
then tack on 2 or 3 festival dates and you've got 14-15 shows
could work in the us too if they set up in los angeles or new york

I just hope the Rolling Stones will be a touring a band until they call it a day.

Maybe there is a tour in the Fall or maybe they're testing the waters to see if a residency would be a good option. One thing I believe is guys like these won't retire, I think it's in their blood.

Going into the studio is not the usual sign of retirement, I'd say

Apart from StonesDoug's Facebook post last month, there have been no followups/updates to support that claim.

He's undoubtedly reasonably informed on 'some' of the inner happenings.

There were some pictures of the truck?
But without proof that it is a current picture. Could also be from the 2024 rehearsals - [iorr.org] .

What does everyone think of an extended residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas?

People ‘hearing’ would defeat the object of it being ‘private’, though. Nobody is meant to know, other than those invited! SShhh…

Especially the media here in the US. They have their noses in everything.

I find it very hard to believe that the Rolling Stones would play at a private party, and no one spoke out about it or even heard anything about it.
I am sure some of us with inside contacts would hear about it or have inside knowledge of an event.

Nothing on social media makes it more difficult to believe.
