Have the Stones ever befriended a fan?

Bill German and Freddie Sessler spring to mind, and it didn't go very well for them. Freddie went to jail for Keith in Alabama, and Keith and Ronnie asked Bill to have drugs mailed to him in Japan. I know that Mick has befriended some of his cricketing idols, but you could say those are friendships between equals as he is their fan as well.

Hmm, good question. The easiest answer would be a possibility with Ronnie. I think he's the most approachable and friendliest. Not to blame Mick or Keith but I suspect they've had issues throughout the years with this. Sorry to say but befriending someone in love with you that doesn't know you personally must be near impossible. Would be for me anyway. Better to keep all that separated.

Good lord, for a second I thought the thread said "beheaded a fan".

Carry on.

Similar with Ulrich Schröder of the German [StonesFanMuseum.com] - not sure if they're befriended in that sense, but they had a connection.

Ron Wood was a big fan before he was befriended by the Stones. They even invited him to join the band.

What about the blind Canadian girl (Rita Bédard) whom Keith befriended in Toronto in 1975, and who later helped him in his drug possession trial in 1977.

Who is Robert Kraft?

I'm sure Keith had some drug buddies. He referred to Spanish Tony as his best friend in 'Live With Me', but he ended up abandoning him with a massive heroin habit.

I've told this here before...a friend of mine had a chance to become Keith's friend, but she turned it down! She was in the front at the 1994 concert in Johannesburg and Keith sent a roadie to bring her backstage. She went, met him and he invited her to a party. But she said no...

I read about a guy called Peter Myers who ran a shop in NYC, where in the 80s Keith was purchasing shepherd's pie, HP sauce and other goods. Apparently they became friends eventually.

Andrew Watt.

Yeah but he has money and can boost their careers. He’s valuable to them. I don’t think they’d buddy up with any of us. Also another thought is people weren’t satisfied with Don Was because apparently he was also a fan. Maybe this goes in the same way. Or maybe we’ll hear a great release coming up.

That's not really the scenario the thread-starter had in mind, I'm sure. He's a producer, who just so happens to be a fan. And is he a 'friend'? It's a professional relationship, first and foremost, I would imagine.

I have always been a discreet person, and I am not going to go into details. Mick and Keith have always appreciated that. And believe me, I have received offers to share anecdotes. But I have not given in.

Are any of their kids actually groupie babies? As far as I know none of their children are from one-night stands with fans.

Remembering back to when the Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame by Pete Townsend. Pete said "Even though we are friends, I am still a fan".

It would most likely be safe to say that the Stones view Pete Townsend as a peer. But the point is, with the Stones, most people are fans. Even if they may not be fond of the Stones music, most people would admire their success.
