Record Store Day 2025 releases
Posted by: Jalfstra ()
Date: February 7, 2025 14:18

3 Rolling Stones (related) releases this year.

ABKCO being ABKCO, of course they bring their annual studio album re-release in a fancy (clear white this time) color. According to them, this reissue has been mastered directly from the original 1st-generation analog mono master tapes. That sounds interesting. Quantity: 6500 WW

Ronnie Wood is re-releasing his 2024 release Live at Electric Ladyland on turqoise vinyl (limited to 1800 copy's worldwide).

And finally Keith is releasing Keith Richards and the Expensive Winos - Live 3-10-22 maxi single on red vinyl. 3 tracks. Could not find numbers..

This looks interesting, especially because of the mono analog transfer. I like clear vinyl too.

Is that different from the included 12x5 copy of the 'In Mono Box'?

Good question, I assume they're the same files. Interesting to have it on new vinyl, and transparent too. I don't have the vinyl box set, only the CDs.

I'm repeating myself, but Abkco ought to re-release the radio station promo album for Record Store Day. It's even got an RSD stock number, for crying out loud. There was a commercial "collector's item" release in Australia in 2005, so it's not as if the idea has never occurred to anyone.

RSD 2025: "This reissue has been mastered directly from the original first-generation analog mono album master tape by Carl Rowatti at Trutone Mastering using an all-analog chain from a Studer A80 tape machine to a Neumann SP-77 soundboard to a Neumann VMS-70 cutting lathe" - [RecordStoreDay.com] . The 2016 Mono-Box was digitally mastered by Bob Ludwig - [TheAudiophileMan.com] .

Marianne Faithfull: posthumous EP to be released for Record Store Day

Burning Moonlight was inspired by Faithfull’s earliest releases, with one side echoing her pop history and the other more folk-tinged

It’s not very likely with a re-release of The Promotional Albun, London RSD 1, -
as the original release holds tracks in True Stereo and Electronically Re-Processed Stereo, -
so it would be a kind-of artificial re-release as I seriously doubt Abkco would vinyl release ERPS tracks
(The Australian release was part of a box-set, with a different track listing, and mainly interesting because of the cover)

Was able to pick up my OOOH RSD copy early from my local record store and think it's pretty good.

Cover is non-glossy otherwise of the same quality as the one in the mono box.

Pressing (GZ) is flawless but I guess it's quite an forgiving album anyway.

Soundwise it's nothing stunning but has less compression and more clarity than the mono box, although it nowhere near touches my unboxed Decca (for export with US tracklisting) and especially Satisfaction sounds a bit uninvolving...

Still, give it a go if you're into the album, if only to keep some more AAA releases coming...

Hmm, but it's made in CZ, rather than Germany. I'm feeling a little bit deflated. Hopefully it's one of their better pressings.

it says Copyright 2025 - 2016...have some doubts about if it has new sound really.

Released exclusively for Record Store Day 2025 on 180-gram clear vinyl with a lithograph print. This reissue has been mastered directly from the original 1st-generation analogue mono album master tape by Carl Rowatti at Trutone Mastering using an all-analogue chain from a Studer A80 tape machine to a Neumann SP-77 soundboard to a Neumann VMS-70 cutting lathe.

But in 2016 the analog tapes were transferred to digital first while the 2025 OOOH was transferred directly from analog tape to lacquer. See the posts above.

Not in Porto. Ronnie Wood and OOOH were in the racks but no Winos.

Thanks you for the update ironbelly. Guess this one didn't make it to Portugal. Can't wait to give OOOH a spin. Going to open a bottle of Cem Reis White. Cheers!

Just played OOOH and have to say I'm not impressed much. As suspected the CZ pressing has surface noise and a slight warp. I know there's people that support CZ pressings as audiophile but I can't understand why. Wish I could because personally I've enjoyed my visits there. I'm the type that roots for the underdog but when it comes to music I want the best for my money. Played The Doors and the John Lennon EP afterwards and they're both flat without surface noise, both not pressed in CZ. Also test played Hitch Hike (UK-USA Export original) and the CZ pressing is a little bit brighter, that's the only difference I noticed. Maybe someone else can elaborate?

That's too bad Frank. I hope you had better luck with the Cem Reis White!
