Doechii receives Grammy for best Rap album

About 6 weeks ago, in middle of december, I watched this Tiny Desk concert:

[youtu.be]

I was thrilled from the very beginning! What a performance!
I'm not a fan of Rap in general but this blew me away. It's her performance and of the fantastic band as well. Wow! For me that's a kind of great Rock'n Roll.
Modern and outstanding good.

And now she received the grammy for the best rap album. "Alligator Bites Never Heal". Congratulations Lady!

She was just announced at a festival where I live. Listening to the album and it is very good.
There is a lot of great rap music, just usually not the artists that are the most popular. Never cared for Snoop, Eminem or Jay Z, not even Run DMC.

But I love De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, the newer ones like Ka, Billy Woods, Moor Mother (this one is more electronic, jazz and spoken word maybe)

The Tiny Desk series' Rap and Hip Hop concerts are a great way for the purists on here to discover that every genre has a right to exist and a right to be called music. The Little Simz Tiny Desk is utterly fantastic, for example!

This one is real fun to watch!

This keeps the spirit of Rock'n Roll alive.
And so do those guys from London of course.
I guess Mick Jagger likes it and I guess Keith doesn't know about it but he'd angry smiley it.

Sierra Ferrell got four grammys.
What a performer and artist she is! She worked hard for a long time and deserves the success of her work.

Doechii's music is immediately likeable and fresh sounding.

The whole jazz-rap beat poetry thing for me is very listenable.

I have never really cared for the Grammys until now. HD win mande me curious, what are these Grammys all about?

I tried to do my homework, but I just don't get it.

I mean, I get why they do it.

But does it really mean something to the artists?

Groucho Marx once said "I won't belong to any organization that would have me as a member". Maybe the Stones think that if the organization pays well, who cares ...

But what really I don't get is what people see in it.

What do all these categories mean?

Beyoncè a country artist?

That said, rock and roll music might very well be (and in fact is) a dinosaur close to extinction, but the power of good rock and roll music is still unbeatable after all these decades, and Diamonds is a damn fine rock and roll album!
