Glimmers Helping Out Former Stones

In the future when the stones are not a touring band and rely soley on the unreleased VAULT to generate cash flows and current members and former members need a helping hand do you think Keith and Mick Can ever open you there wallets.

I know Keith helped Taylor, big deal Taylor played on one song on Keith's record
and probably got paid very little or nothing. I know Wyman helped Taylor with
some money not sure if Ian Stuart got anything in his closing years.

You're basically asking: do Taylor and Wyman receive money for Stones releases on which they appear. Answer is porbably yes, they do. Allthough not much, I guess. I don't see a reason why that would change.

No I am not

Would the glimmers take money out of there own stash of millions to help out.
I understand that taylor and wyman could get some money on releases in the future

Is Taylor's financial situation that bad? Or is this pure hypothetical?
(Don't know the answer to your question BTW).

Mick & Kieth are two of the tightest English wads the states have ever seen, although Kieth gives his drugs away freely, Mick would never, repeat never give jack shit or jack flash to anyone, not even his kids..although he does give jizz away to anyone who will take it....he will die with the most money of all...I once had to buy his lunch because he said he forgot his cash in Dallas once and no one at the diner gave a shit who he was so his meal was not gratis....as far as the others they are on their own.....

Why were you at dinner with Jagger? Sound like an interesting story.

I would imagine Wyman and Taylor have all the money they need for the rest of their lives, unless they've squandered it, in which case it would be their own fault.

I think Ron Wood wishes he was Mick Taylor and Keith wishes he really wrote all
those riffs from the late 1960's and did not steal from Jones,Cooder and all the
rest.

Merry Xmas stones fans

Doesn't Wyman live in a near castle that is 100's of years old? I have never heard that he was hurting financially.

No I understand my limiations as a player you turned the whole thread Negative I
was just asking a question - You know some bands actually care about former members.

>> not sure if Ian Stuart got anything in his closing years <<

i don't know the answer to your questions either, but why would you think Stu wasn't being paid??
he worked for the Stones, and in what you call his "closing years" he was a hard-workin man in his prime who died very unexpectedly.
and even if the band was on the brink of falling apart in 85, they *didn't* fall apart, nor did the whole Stones Inc go kablooey.
love & light to Stu.

do many employers help out people who quit on them? I don't think so, nor should they, I hope if the Stones are feeling generous they should give some money to help new young bands who embrace the blues and rock since this music is not getting any radio play or big record contracts much any more. And openG just stop with the Keith ripping of Jones ,Taylor riffs thats just bullshit and you know it. If Taylor is such a great riff master then why are his solo records just sleep inducing shit that only you and 18 other Taylor fans like? Instead of the Millions of fans who love Richards writing, yes Taylor can play a fantastic solo, yawn! so can many, he is a poor songwriter, he is just a footnote, every thing he did post stones is crap and irrelevant. And the during the brief period between Exile and Some Girls when Keith was out of it and Taylor was more involved the music suffered, he just is a good guitar player not an artist.

Ket - your an ASS-hole if you think Keith is a better songwriter than Taylor.
What in the hell has Keith written lately that's worth a damn? Sure not his
solo stuff, Taylor's "A Stones Throw" is head-over-heals better than Keith's
solo work (lately)

Taylor could use the money right now!! if Jagger/Richards had given him his
due credit on all the songs he helped write, (Sway, CYHMK, Moonlight Mile, etc)
he might not be in the finanical shape he's in now, he never was big on being
famous and making alot of money like you-know-who (Jagger/Richards)
and he's paying for it now..

but if those two tight-wads (MJ,KR) wouldn't even help Nicky Hopkins wife
when he died and left her a 100 thousand dollar doctor bill, they sure aint
gonna help Taylor,
(Charlie wrote a check and paid Nicky's bill in full when he heard about it)

Why to you think Bill Wyman left?? much the same reason as Taylor!!!

Well MCD then you if you think Taylor is a better songwriter then Richards then you are a complete and utter fuc-king- moron becuase he has never wrote anything worth a monkey spank. I have listened to a Stones throw, some nice guitar, boring as shit @#$%&-ing songs the story, of Taylor's solo carrer.

Hmmm let's be realistic here. If you are were a good guitarist who over the years by drug "abuse" lost some ability in your playing, would you rather be in the greatest Rock 'n Roll band and tour all over the world and play in front of millions of people and earn millions and millions of dollars or would you rather be an awesome solo guitarist and play in some pubs in obscure places after you have been a member of the greatest rock 'n 'roll band in the world for a couple of years where you have earned something like a million dollars.

Seems like Ronnie is a happie man!!!!

Cheers,
Wuudy

Well Ket - I'll just be happy knowing you know NOTHING about music!!

Keep paying your hundreds of dollars for Stones tickets, and buying

those great concerts videos like Live Licks....

Oh - and watch the Monkees DVD's you've bought, yeah they made alot of $$
so they must be great musicians....

Again I ask you - name one of Keith solo songs that will be remembered by
anyone threw the years???

I live in southern California where great guitar players as well as future and former rock stars are a dime a dozen. Not very impressed by guitar playing alone. It takes a great BAND to make great music. The Stones were always greater than the sum of the parts. Mick Taylor was great as a member of the Stones but is mostly boring on his own (much like Mick Jagger actually).

Wuudy,

I didn't ask for riffs, my discussion with KET was about Song-writing,

He blasted Mick Taylor's song writing ability, said Keith's was better
and I asked him to give an example? I think Taylor's solo works,

his 1st album in 1979 and A Stones Throw are better (IMO)
than Keith's solo work

I agree with you that "riffs" are Keith's for-tay...

his "riffs" with Taylor's "leads" are still some of my favorite music!

HANNAH HONEY, you are so wrong about Mick being cheap because he( and Keith) gave one million dollars to Katrina victims, Mick sponsors kids' programs at Dartford Elementary School which he attended as a boy and he donates millions to charities YEARLY that he does not broadcast like alot of other rockers; he has quiet class and many times donates anonomously. Do you homework before you make such a broad, INCORRECT statement.

MLC, I miss read your post. I thought you did compare Taylor's and Keith's solo's on songs not solo songs. Sorry!

MCDDTLC, IMHO you are 100% right! I can ashure you that Bill left for the same reason Taylor left, and Ronnie is suffering alcoholism for the same reason Brian suffered and died. No one but Charlie (Keith: You're my drummer!) can stay healthy between Mick and Keef!!

Remember reading that Keith & Ronnie paid Ronnie Lanes medical expenses in the last few years of his life.

I´m pretty sure Ron developed his alcoholism at least during his
time with the Faces.

And: ("Keith: You're my drummer!"

(Charlie /to Mick): You´re my @#$%& singer

Right Baboon. It was Mick who said to Charlie "where is my drummer?" .
