USA vs Europe (Gigs comparison)

Is there much difference between Stones concerts in USA and Europe?
I mean audience and organization wise.
I've only seen them in the States(Miami, Jacksonville, and Philadelphia) and Puerto Rico.
All of them have been awesome and the organization has been top notch. I'm thinking about going to Europe to see them. I'm just curious about how similar or different it is to see them in Europe compare to the states.
By the way, it would be my first time in Europe as well.

The age in Stray Cat Blues may be adjusted a little depending on what country they're in...

Keith put my t-shirt on his head in Paris 2017.

I figure my Christian Dior perfume got sexy female before I entered U-Arena....smileys with beer

Do it. I have caught Europe shows the last few tours and it is a lot of fun. I am planning on 6 shows this tour. The biggest difference for me is really the venues and culture of the local fans. In the US everything is stricter in regards to security. In Europe I have been to more with GA seating (besides the pit).

As far as the shows, its the Stones. Not sure I could say the shows are different. Mick always says something in the local language at all of the shows I attended

There are differences depending on the country they play in. In Spain and Portugal crowds are a bit like in South America, huge party! Also younger fans, that's what I noticed. Maybe that's why they wanna play 3 shows in Spain.
Concert tickets are usually a bit cheaper than in the US. Organization level and security is the same.

Well, the audience will differ in every country, I suppose. I would imagine that South and Central American shows offer a more diverse cultural experience.

No, you are right. I keep thinking Mexico is a Central American nation for some reason!

Unfortunate! Guess they feel the countries between Mexico and Colombia are too small...

Well, I don't think one should view Europe as 'one' It's many countries; many languages; and many cultures. And then you have the United Kingdom, a separate beast. We may be one nation, yet we are made up of four countries; each proudly and ferociously different.

Makes sense.

What does the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man count as btw? If not countries like Northern Ireland, England, Wales and Scotland?

I've seen the Stones in the UK and in Mexico. All shows were a blast (of course), but the Mexico City concerts were on another level! At 40-something, I was toward the younger end of the London demographic, but was among the older people in Mexico.

The dozens of stalls outside the stadium selling bootleg t-shirts, caps, cups etc were also excellent.

Like most things in life, Mexicans approach concerts with an incredible exuberance and joy de vivre that the UK cannot compete with.

The excitement is due to the age of the crowd. It is hard to jump and sing and move like in Argentina, if you are old and have pain here and there.

Las Vegas crowds are better than other cities in USA, because they all travel for one purpose mailny, To see The Rolling Stones. In another US city many may go because the show is a big evnt, they may not be that excited about every song.

Age in USA were high on recent tours, I would say average 50+ or more. Lsst year 2024 I think more young fans came, they were younger than in the past.

Europe have a much younger crowd, may be 15+ years younger, many are in thir 20's, 30's and 40's. May be they who are very old don't go anymore.

Best crowd in Europe used to be in Spain, when ticket prices were normal, I remember Malaga 98, many Barcelona shows, fantastic crowds, they did not push hard andprotect >"their lady" in the front, they just enjoyed the show.

Still, in general, all crowds are great, in any city. Like in Liverpool they were singing "You Never Walk Alone", and the Glastonbury crowd was amazing.

I have rarely had a bad crowd, there have ben some, but in rspect of those I will not mention them, it must have been random bad day both band and crowd.

The Rolling Stones are always great. That is why I keep going to see them, even if I should have been at home with my grandchildren now.

They are British 'Crown Dependencies' Natives of those islands hold British Citizenship, but they are not part of the United Kingdom.

I would say that the show in itself is basically the same. Only in the US, Jagger's usual between the songs banter is, for obvious reasons, a little more articulated than in Europe (save, of course, the UK and France - Mick's French is quite good).

Performance is influenced by the audience. Audiences in Europe are very different from country to country. All that BV said is true: it can be very loud in Spain, France and Italy, but also in Germany. More quiet in Switzerland and up in the north.

In Europe, at least until now, there are more gigs where most of the audience is standing and not seated. This a factor.

In general, i would say that the band appreciates loud audiences.

Seeing them in the UK is something else. I don't know why, but you can feel they are at home there!

A completely different point of view is the fan's experience.

I definitely wouldn't recommend a general admission ticket in Spain, France or Italy if you are used to and want the comforts of an all seated arena.

If you are not very tall, general admission in Germany might not be a good idea.

I think London is the ultimate city to see them.

As Keith commented to Jimmy Fallon at the Hackney Diamonds press conference: 'We're a London band'

I saw them in the US for the first time at Madison Garden 2003 January 18.
It was part of the licks tour.
The New York audience is always wild.
Much more wilder then in L.A.
So MSG was very much like Europe.
The Bigger Bang Tour Opener 2005 at Boston's Fenway Park was much more cooler, calmer and collected.
So I think, like in Europe it depends on cities.
So in Germany Munich is quieter than Berlin. Cologne is the moste loudest.
In Spain it's pretty loud and wild - but even there are differences: Barca is definitely louder than Madrid.
Milano is louder than Rome and Torino - but Neaples beats them all.
Werchter beats Amsterdam in case of wild audience.
And on and on.
Generally in Europe people act more free and loose in the venues. In the US the audience is much more dedicated to rules and disciplin. If you want a 100% save advice for Europe: Go see them in Barcelona!!! Young, wild, loud, lovely, crazy and overwhelming devoted. It's an experience. And 2cd: Berlin, Waldbühne - best Sound and atmosphere - Barca's brother.

Haven't seen the Stones in the Netherlands so I can't say, but I truly had a hard time in Germany and I am just a little over 6ft myself!

Remember the times when football teams were made 9/11 of national players and Italian teams had to play vs nationals of North Europe: no way you could compete on a physical level!

Oh I remember that moment at the end of the show / tour. Everybody on stage was totally relaxed and what a great night to remember.
