Question about Mick Jagger's debut as a rock singer.

Mick said in an interview that he first sang when he was 15 year old. He called the band "greasers" and when he asked them, they let him sing. It must have been in 1958 before, Keith and the Blue boys. Do we know more about these fisrt performances, place, names of musicians, songs etc... Thank you.

I think Mick did his first singing and attempt at forming a band with schoolmates David Soames and Mike Turner, at Soames house. After that he hooked up with Dick Taylor and they created the group that would eventually become the Blue Boys, which Keith joined after a while.

Thank you Glimmerest. Mick said that singing with those guys and the good response he received made him believed that it was something he could do. So it is a very important step in the making of Mick's everlasting career, the feeling of confidence at that early age. It is better if one is born with it; confidence in one self is crucial in one's professional life and one's personal life. For sure Mick has a lot of it.

Oh well in that case it might not be the example I gave. Based on what I read David and Mike did not like his singing. It must have been with Dick Taylor and the proto-Blue Boys that he got the good response, would have been right after.

Do you happen to know what interview it was?
