I'm pretty sure a snippet of this interview has been aired somewhere before; I'm sure I've seen it. I definitely haven't seen the whole thing, though.

An interesting interview, conducted before the era in which Keith Richards became the "hoho, haha" master.

Well, some of it was Keith's then stock answers to the stock question of the day.

You maybe remember him saying the same thing to somebody else

That said, I don't remember seeing this before an there are a couple of interesting snippets.

It's just a pity that better prepared interviewers seldom in those days seemed to catch Keith in the same patient and engaged mood.

I've never seen it but it seems uncomfortable and forced. The questions are more sophomoric than usual and Keith seems a bit impatient and strangely self-conscious. I've never seen him likehis.

Very interesting interview. I'd have to say Keith was being very honest and insightful here. Which might be the reason it's not been shown or downplayed. Just a thought.

Interviews is a difficult thing. Very few journalists master it. The key is to make the interview subject relax but at the same time staying sharp with the questions.
Many think they can do it but very few are actually good with it.

Just watched this again.

So different from the "Ha-Ha/Ho-Ho" Keef we know today.
A littel bit of that comes out at the end when he is talking about his jewelery.

I did not know that the skull ring and handcuff braclet was made by the same jeweler. Also he says he got that watch from Eric Clapton.

He is honest and forthright here, but definitely under the influnce.
His comments about wanting to play anywhere is great!

Let me just say this, this interview is a very good example why some well-known figures have stopped giving interviews for good.

Disjointed questions from a guy who did some preparation and still managed to ask the usual dumb questions.

Oh, boy... This IS Keith Richards himself sitting down with ya and this is the best you can do? Sex, drugs and rock & roll? Rock against whatever?

This interview proved one thing for sure, Keef is the nicest, most polite, most knowledgeable, most patient, most humble person ever. He is such a good, opiniated conversationalist. Bob Dylan would have walked out of this or stayed just to make fun of the guy...

There is almost nothing said about Talk Is Cheap which was -- at the time -- his little baby just being born. And we all know how proud Keef was of this album and the band.

I remember watching a Lenny Kravitz DVD. There is segment about a guy interviewing him and he just destroys the dude asking the same dumb questions. I thought it was way too cruel and to put it on the DVD as a special feature was even worse and completely unnecessary. I actually felt bad for the guy as Lenny made fun of him and ridiculed him. And as a result, I now don't have a very high opinion of Lenny Kravitz as a person. He acted as someone who thought God gave him everything he wanted.

But look at our Keef! What a gentle soul he is. I believed every word he said.

This was a Marlboro commercial for the telly, nothing more.

But it was worth watching anyway just to see Keef being so relaxed and then get angry for a moment about the silly "how do you keep moving" question being brought up once more.

Where was Ms Jane Rose to stop this?

Agree with what's been said, awkward, unprepared interviewer who blew the chance of a lifetime, but Keith was so patient, cordial and good natured. He really is a gent. Loved his look here.

KR did the interview bc he had too...he was promoting the Wino's...so he was sober and alert...and at times I thought annoyed.....good thing the interviewer didn't ask him any Mick questions he might have pulled the blade....

If KR gave interviews daily, it would be normal for trivial questions to abound. However, nearly all interviewers who have had their one chance in life to ask him interesting questions throw the opportunity out the window with banal, over-answered queries.

The interview depends on the format too - whether you are doing the interview for a tv-show, newspaper or a pop/rock magazine. If you are doing the interview for a tv-show maybe 2 minutes will come up on tv...
Basically it's promotion, nothing else. Both parts are aware of it.

Interesting to see Keith being honest when he said "We are not always the greatest Rock and Roll band in the world". Common Keith, you cannot be serious. Maybe a little upset for 6 years not touring with the Stones and missing Jagger as a college. .

Keith is very eloquent (as almost always) and in this one he was surprisingly patient. He would deserve a good informed interviewer.
