Keith never seems to be on these deluxe outtakes from any of the deluxe albums.

Keith was the driving guitar for Plundered My Soul.

He's one the SG deluxe songs. And TY songs.

It's a beautiful thing, this BAB deluxe reissue.

Will there be more?

Time is running out.

It's incredible that they're doing BAB.

Does that mean ER and U will get deluxe treats?

At this point, I hope so.

But possibly more important the anthology.

The Rolling Stones have a huge amount of unreleased material...

Well, he is - it's just that he completed his parts 40 years ago cool smiley

I meant to say that Keith doesn't seem to be doing any additional work on these outtakes for the deluxe issues. I didn't notice anything new from Keith on the old outtakes.

It was a 'good one' and a true statement.

If anyone asks me why Keith didn't do more with the outtakes, I'll tell them it's like Bakerboy said, "He completed his parts 40 years ago." LOL!

I'm glad to have whatever we get.

Keith should take an interest in the outtakes being released by his band.

The only time he was spotted for sure was on Exile, So Divine (Aladin Story) I think.

Dancing In The Light, wasn't it?

Not sure about DITL but the Keith overdubs are pretty obvious (not in a good way actually) on SD/AS.

Keith doesn't like working on old outtakes from 45-55 years ago, and he's not interested in these reissues either. Except for Exile, he never did any press for any of the others, Exile was the exception, but I think he must be regretting it or didn't like the (or his) finished work on some of the outtakes, with Aladdin Story being the most obvious.

These reissues are work for Mick and Ronnie, who are more open; Keith could care less.

I didn't realize the remixed album covers all formats - the original mix is not included. Interesting that UMG finally figured it out.

He said he “brushed an acoustic” as well. He might have added one to Dancing in the Light or I Ain’t Signifying. Following the River is another possibility.

They should have had Taylor play on So Divine because I don’t think he’s on there unless he played bass or vibes. *I actually think Wyman played the vibes. Not sure where Jim Price comes from there. Source?

Maybe Keith isn't interested in deluxe reissues because the album was finished, and the outtakes don't fit the album. I'm glad to get "Shame, Shame, Shame," but I can't imagine it being released on Black and Blue, even though Black and Blue is a 'mixed bag' (various types of music).

I love "Plundered My Soul" and I can't imagine how that would fit onto Exile.

I think it's time for a restored version (HD/HQ) of all B&B promo video: Hey Negrita, Crazy Mam, Hot Stuff and Fool to Cry.

The vinyl box set of Black and Blue is so damn expensive. For an album of jams, a couple of (more) live discs and a remix of the already perfect sounding original record that I’m actually wary of, and another book, over AUD$440!! Yikes. I might have to give this one a miss…

I agree. But wouldn’t get my hopes up that it would actually be an upgrade. The videos on Some Girls Super Deluxe are worse quality than what I already had on boot.

I believe they meant overdubbing new parts. The parts you mention are period authentic, not overdubs.

We know that Mercury has restored Rolling Stones promo videos. I believe Mick has a lot more from the vaults planned, including restored videos.

I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a dream box of unreleased material coming our way.

I was chatting with a friend who collects vinyl about the cost of the vinyl super deluxe release compared to the CD super deluxe. We couldn't think of a logical answer.

My best guess is that record companies think audiophiles who buy vinyl have more money. In other words, corporate greed.

It's nice to have super deluxe boxes with new mixes, a great live concert, and finished outtakes. However, many fans cannot afford the high prices of the Rolling Stones. Admittedly, the super deluxe release with all of the goodies are not astronomically priced, but they aren't inexpensive either. The costs of the super deluxe boxes are out of reach for many fans. Each item isn't sold separately, not even at a later date.

I thought maybe the Goats Head Soup surround sound CD would become available a long while after its release in 2020, but it didn't become available separately.

I'm thrilled to get this Black and Blue rerelease.

I think a newer version of Video Rewind would be good. Perhaps a blu-ray of all the music videos through the years.

i know that i personally won't be able to afford it (cd or vinyl) until prices come significantly down in a few years

thankfully i assume almost all of it will be put up on youtube by the band for free

I can afford it. But I simply question its value. Jams, instead of actual songs? A remix of THE perfect sounding Stones studio album? More live albums? AUD$440.

I’LL BE buying Springsteen 4LP Nebraska box. It’s only AUD$250. No Question. No thought NOT to. Great value. But Black & Blue? Probably not. It’ll likely be the first of the lads boxes I don’t get, apart from that rubbish Beggars Banquet deluxe box …

That's approximately $285 US dollars.

That's ridiculous.

Is it because it's so far away?

That's absurd.

I could understand a box set of completely unreleased material on discs 1-3 and disc 4 being B-sides that were previously unavailable, perhaps a remix or two, plus single edits, like the UK mix of Plundered My Soul - things that aren't available globally - but not just some deluxe album reissue that has some live slop on it, because we all know it's slop, it's just slop we love.

In some ways I look forward to hearing the live albums from this deluxe set only to compare it to EL MOCAMBO, LA FRIDAY and, of course, LOVE YOU LIVE: unless someone can point me in that other specific direction, the worst, performance wise, The Rolling Stones ever sounded live.

Overall.

I'll give anyone moments of VOODOO LOUNGE.

Yet 1975-76 they were ON it.

Right?

Do the horrendous to that if you can.

With exception to a few songs via LOVE YOU LIVE and EL MOCAMBO there's really no reason to take the band or Mick seriously: they were just doing what they do/did, more than less flying through the songs - JJF and Brown Sugar are perfect examples; horrific!

Even Happy is dire.

But that's how they were then. And they toured that!!!!

Re: Black and Blue 2025
Date: October 16, 2025 10:27

I love the Happy-version on LYL! In fact, it is my favourite. It was the first version of Happy I heard, and I have never really warmed to the studio version because of that.

Keith's vocals might be the most obvious overdub ever, though smiling smiley

I can never spot these overdubs. What's the obvious clue in this case?

Of course, if you've heard the boot of a certain show and the released version differs, then the discrepancy is clear, but I've been listening to LYL for 48 years now and had not noticed that Keith's vocal is overdubbed on Happy.

Thanks in anticipation!

Hint: The «howl» before he starts singing. Can't find that in the videos smiling smiley We barely hear Mick, while Keith sings flawlessly during the choruses. That never happened, either.

Some of the LYL-overdubs are easy to spot, because Keith never did them that way, before or after LYL. The busy backing vocals on the choruses of Tumbling Dice is a good example, imo.

I can already hear a jarring technical mistake in the new mix: at 2:51, Mick's voice only comes back at "Stuff", we can't hear the "Hot" word that comes before it.
I guess it's already too late to ask for a fix, the sets are already being manufactured...

Prices of these boxes are one of the main reasons why I keep my applemusic subscription!

I know its not the same thing, but as you said, these prices for maybe less than 30 minutes of old/new frankenstein jams and a couple of live shows ... no way!
