But the show now is really enjoyable. I never liked the 1976 tour much, and especially the Paris gigs I find really lackluster, but this is a good, high energy show and they play fantastic.

Agree with this. EC by far exceeded my expectations. The playing is great and inspired, the band sounds like a well-oiled machine and the mix is sublime, too, my only complaint is that the keyboards are a bit too high in the mix for my taste.

It also appears that they left the original performances mostly intact i.e. minimal/no overdubs and edits.

I´m not a fan of the 1976 tour but this is a great and very enjoyable listen!

The artwork however is probably the laziest and most uninspired presentation of a live show they have delivered so far.

JPC still offers the full version for a reasonable price, including shipping costs.

So unless I missed it previously, we don’t know if Hot Stuff is correct on the cd yet? Mine has been pushed back to tomorrow delivery.

The error is there, unfortunately, on my super deluxe box set. sad smiley And also on the 2 CD set. sad smiley

Yours will be the collectible version on discogs in a couple years that you can sell for twenty times its value and then purchase the corrected one smiling smiley

—I’m sure it will be on mine as well (ordered the first minute it became available)

Wait, so is it correct that the previous "Hot Stuff" error has been corrected, but now a "Cherry Oh Baby" error has been identified? The intro is cut off?

"Hot Stuff" is fixed & everything all right with the intro on "Cherry Oh Baby"

Ok, well that's good. It was mentioned earlier in this thread about the "Cherry Oh Baby" issue. Thanks.

What do you guys think about Disc 2?

I liked the jams, specially Chuck Berry and Rotterdam Jams (I think the last one is the best).Maybe just a little bit long.

Is there any proof for corrected versions on physical medium or is it only wishful thinking? The only corrected version is online (YouTube) where it could be fixed fast and cheap. But pressing (ten)thousands of new CDs, LPs and Blurays (!). I don't know if that is gonna happen. Let's wait and see.

What thin gruel. Mick, why you treat us so mean?

The live shows I'm enjoying, they are rocking. But the rest...

Those jams are a dull as ditchwater, and the two reworked tracks are just fine.

But how about a capella mixes of the album - the singing, harmonies, vocals are so tough all through the album, I'd love to hear only them.

And how about the opposite? What a revelation it'd be to hear the whole album instrumental?

Has anyone had a chance to take a close look at the book ? Anything new/interesting in terms of interviews, sessions logs, credits ?

Based on some comments on FB the book is beyond useless in terms of sharing any details whatsoever, not even credits or musicians playing on the "new" tracks, so of course there is no new information on the sessions. How disappointing, looks like they lost a customer !

EDIT - Hopefully they reproduced the studio mixing logs from the LP ;-)

Tidal streaming last night had no errors in Hot Stuff, Cherry Oh Baby, or Hey Negrita.

For what it’s worth.

Remarkable how well Ronnie played on that tour.

He was not far off Taylor.

Yesss! In many respects, I find Ronnie‘s playing in his prime is extremely interesting (in the sense of unique), playful and „out of the hips“!

I Love Ladies.

Fantastic!

Might be the best "new" bonus song (bar Plundered My Soul) for me.

Thank you Rolling Stones!

Cant stand jeff becks noodling imo, these jams really show why he was a terrible fit for the stones

Woah never heard of this site, if you buy the album do you get the straight flac files to yourself? I downloaded an earls court audio file from youtube and it was COMPLTELY brickwalled so hopefully itll sound better on pro studio masters

I feel completely the opposite.

I would have loved to hear him play on actual Stones songs, adding a new dimension.

its the earla court show that is the stunner in this box
a bit underwhelmed indeed by the rest but the ec show alone is worth the money

Agreed, except that "I Love Ladies" was a well known outtake whereas no one had ever heard "Plundered My Soul"...although I think VideoJames may have written here that he'd come across some kind of instrumental version while sifting through the Stones archives when he was once tasked to do that.

Yeah, it's great they released the Earls Court songs. Reminds me of the Wembley show on the Tattoo You deluxe box set. A tempting addition, but at £100+ for the privilege does make it exclusive. Cheap as I am, I ordered the 2Cd version at £17 to get the new outtake jams.

About "Melody" I was curious to see if Wilson had fixed the weird "Well I say" Mick overdub at 2:53 (or the "well" at 3:03) that's been bugging me for 42 years ;-) Well not really but it always sounded weirdly out of place and a bit of an afterthought.

I’m enjoying what the band did with this re-release. I’d almost say that this is up there with their best reissues. I do wish they would have added at least one more outtake. I would love have to heard how 2025 Keith vocals would sound on “I Got a Letter.” But alas, he seems content with not participating in these re-releases.

The Earls Court files from ProStudioMasters.com will probably not sound better since they have a dynamic range of just DR5.

Great piece in the Memphis Flyer mentions that Memphis' Robert A. Johnson is on at least 2 more of the jams without being credited: [www.memphisflyer.com]

Memphian Joins the Rolling Stones!
New box set reveals how, for a few days, Robert A. Johnson lived the dream.

This is excellent. Thank you for sharing. I knew I heard another guitar bleeding through on a couple songs!

Interesting that’s Robby Johnson on Built That Way!

Also this would be cool:

“The next day there was more jamming, then Beck returned to London and Billy Preston showed up. Johnson stayed into the night as the band worked on the prospective album track “Built That Way.” It was not destined to be included on Black and Blue, nor is it on the new box set, but will likely be in a future compilation of outtakes from the band’s middle era.”
