There will be more than 2 "new" songs, it will be very similar to the GHS reissue that had 3 additional tracks and 7 instrumentals and alternative takes, B&B will be the same and with a show from the '76 tour included on another disc.

The 'bonuses' (plural) as mentioned by the Record Collector magazine article would make sense then. First LP as original (remastered) album and a second LP with the 'new' tracks, demos, instrumentals, alternative mixes - plus the gatefold packaging like the original BAB album (or GHS / TY Deluxe 2021). Maybe additionally a live concert like for GHS Deluxe 2020 or TY Deluxe 2021. Could work for BAB Deluxe as well.

No concert on video?

Eh, there already is.

From the Vault: L.A Forum (Live in 1975)

The live album is from the Sunday show, the DVD is the Friday show.

LOVE YOU LIVE is, tour wise, all from 1976 except Fingerprint File, IORR and SFTD. However, only If You Can't Rock Me and You Gotta Move are truly live; all the rest of the tracks have overdubbed vocals. The Mocambo tracks sans Around And Around have guitar and harmonica and vocal overdubs on them that are almost comical (even YA-YA'S has guitar overdubs on it).

However a complete show from 1976 would be nice ala HAMPTON 1981 and LIVE AT LEEDS 1982. The set lists are almost exactly the same except 1982 doesn't have Let It Bleed, which was played a majority of the tour, and Waiting On A Friend, which was not played in 1982, and has Angie.

Then there's STILL LIFE: WEMBLEY STADIUM 1982 that has Chantilly Lace and Let It Bleed. It's the show where Charlie destroyed she's So Cold, which is edited out for the live album. If you haven't seen it go to 3:19 [www.youtube.com]

There's an audio only of it on YT if you just want to listen but watching Mick and Bill, well, ha ha.

That context would be welcome regarding 1975-76 with complete shows, now that Mocambo got released, and would complete the loop that wasn't offered from 1981-82 with no club shows released.

Towards the end of Tumbling Dice from LA FRIDAY Mick ditches the microphone on a cable and grabs a wireless, at that time a prototype, which he used for IORR and Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo, Rip This Joint, and one more each of hundreds horrific renditions of Street Fighting Man and JJF, which has a hilarious intro, and SFTD, which Ronnie was momentarily distracted from playing his guitar when the girls came out.

i would argue that there is enough difference in the appearance and sound of the 76 versus the 75 tour to justify a video release

and even if there wasn't do we really need to have a limit on the amount of concert videos from the 70's?

i know there's only so many near identical concert films the casual fans will buy

but a super deluxe version of black and blue isn't something that casual fans are gonna buy anyways it's for hardcore fans and they'll buy as many concert films of shows from the 70's that the band are willing to release

however it's a mute point since they don't really release video with the super deluxe versions of albums which include live shows

and there's probably not any realistic options for them when it comes to professionally filmed concerts from 76

we've got the paris shows which have issues with the rights not belonging to the band and the cost of buying those back and restoring the footage just doesn't seem like it's worth it for anything less then a standalone release not tacked on to a super deluxe of black and blue

and then there's knebworth which also doesn't justify the cost of restoring the footage for that kind of release (unless they've already had it done)

What’s the timeline for this in relation to the studio album? Two releases in 2025?

Very exciting prospects!

There isn't a timeline in regard to the new album because no one knows anything about the new album other than it was or is supposedly being mixed in London this month.

And a supposed November release for the deluxe reissue is probably some attempt at - oh my - SALES!!!! Christmas sales!!!!!

Which means maybe BAB deluxe will chart high!

I wasn't disagreeing about live video. I forgot about what you mentioned in regard to not having rights to the Paris show. Maybe they filmed themselves, perhaps if/as they did for what became LA FRIDAY.

I vaguely recall Mick commenting to Chet Flippo something about "making notes" while watching live film from a show in 1975.

1970s live videos are a total of three: LADIES AND GENTLEMEN... LA FORUM and SG TEXAS.

The EXILE super had STONES IN EXILE, L&G and the Frank movie on DVD.

SOME GIRLS super had a DVD that I don't see any description of - maybe it's part of TEXAS?

The STICKY super DVD is pointless.

At least there's BRUSSELS, L&G and TEXAS on CD.

If they can release a 1981 show and an 82 show on DVD that have pretty much the same setlists, I don't think its out of the question to release a companion 76 DVD show with a Black & Blue re-issue- provided there is a good quality show from 76 to release. Just saying...

sorry for misunderstanding your post

i forgot about the dvd releases on previous super deluxes

so maybe knebworth is on the table for a video release with it

though i'd think they'd wanna save that for a standalone release and it's more likely to be just audio of a 76 show

maybe a blu-ray of the mercury studios remastered promo videos for black and blue (if they ever actually remastered them)

on a side note

when i saw you listed c-cksucker blues as being released in the exile super deluxe i could have sworn you must have been mistaken

so i looked it up and you we're right they did release it on it!eye popping smiley

i never new they officially released it

EDIT

oh never mind

the dvd on exile super deluxe just has a short excerpt from c-cksucker blues not the whole film

Totally forgot they released part of CS Blues as part of the Exile Super Deluxe! Was it 30 minutes from that film was on the DVD?

I understood that there were technical problems with the quality of the Knebworth recording in places that prevented an official release. That's why all the bootleg soundboard releases were incomplete.

Is this the case or does a quality master tape exist? Any thoughts?

I wonder if there's the possibility a deluxe "Love You Live." having heard the tracks that were mastered but rejected for release on the album
("Love You Live Mixes 2016"), these are great quality. These could be added along with others for release.

Thanks.

Let's speculate!

What extra tracks / different versions etc would we like to see on the BaB reissue? (I know the final product will inevitably be lacklustre, but let us dream)

If it’s better than GHS deluxe I will be over the moon. At least 3 discs if George is accurate

Brown Leaves, Man Eating Woman, Built That Way. I suppose they could throw the Chuck Berry jam w/ Harvey Mandel on there since it was apparently from the FFO's never-released second batch

reading around on iorr from back then it seems it was just 10 minutes from csb and 10 each of ladies and gentlemen and stones in exile

looks like it was a preview disc of then upcoming releases

which i guess implies that c-cksucker blues was seriously consider for release about 15 years ago

probaly worth continuing this discussion in the exile album thread

i'm curious what they'll come up with and hope some of it is stuff that hasn't circulated before

but just based on what circulates they have a couple good tracks to finish off and put on there and i'm sure a lot of nice outtakes and alternate versios of songs on the album

plus there has to be some good jams and stuff left over with all those different guitarist coming in

i'm hoping to be pleasantly suprised by what they have on there

PLEASE…NO remastering of their best sounding sonically perfect album!!! Somehow it’s “Stones-dirty” with crystal clear instrumentation. It is perfect as is.

I guess there are specialists around here who have a pretty good idea of what was recorded with the various guitar players.

I agree that it's unlikely but with IORR not getting a Deluxe for sure where is it going to appear ?! At least we know they considered it for B&B since it was played/played back at De Doelen in Rotterdam in 1975.

Doubt they would release music which showcases great guitar playing on jams or instrumentals by guitarists , none of who they selected to replace Taylor

I'd be fine if they could fill a whole disc up with Ronnie solo-ing on 'Hey Negrita". When he hits that slide on (I assume) the mirrored Zemaitis, and that killer sound. Ollie B earning his pay too.

I Got A Letter
Built That Way
I Love Ladies
Act Together

Slave 1
Worried About You 1
Crazy Mama 1
Black Limousine
Fingerprint File 1
Munich Hilton
Misty Roads

Since the Stones aren't big on being accurate with their timelines for deluxe albums this makes total sense.

Eh, there already is.

LOVE YOU LIVE is, tour wise, all from 1976 except Fingerprint File, IORR and SFTD. However, only If You Can't Rock Me and You Gotta Move are truly live; all the rest of the tracks have overdubbed vocals. The Mocambo tracks sans Around And Around have guitar and harmonica and vocal overdubs on them that are almost comical (even YA-YA'S has guitar overdubs on it).
.

AFAIK, only Carol has a possible guitar overdub. Are there others?
