I have to disagree. Just My Imagination from Hampton 81 is very good, but the Texas 78 version is even better. It's raw, has truly brilliant guitar interplay and Jagger's performance is at the very top.

Yes, this is pure Stones. Unmitable.

The best performance from Hampton is the great Let’s Spend the Night Together. It illustrates the greatest rhythm section in rock history.

I know I am going against the grain, but this song irks me, especially the live performances. People hold it up as a prime example of guitar weaving, the epitome of the Wood/Richards collaborative sound. But for me the closing guitar thrash is not sexy or interesting (read upbeat boring). It was during this song in '06 (?) in Oakland, B stage, that I left. I went to see Van for the first time anyway and suffered through an extended Streets of Love. I was hoping for a Gloria duet.

I have had a bootleg of this concert since 1982. I was at both Hampton shows.

You have to take into consideration how many people already had bootleg albums, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and how many streamed the concert.

Those numbers are not shown on the official numbers.

I am sure there are 1000's.

Hampton 1981 to me is the Stones finest two hours of their entire career, with Imagination one of the most brilliant tracks. Wyman is utterly fantastic, the guitars are fantastic, I love the way Ernie Watts takes part of the interplay and weaving, Jagger's is at his best, and Charlie is sublime throughout the entire concert.

Everyone has their own opinion, but Hampton is not better thanseveral of their best shows from1972 -1973 starting with Brussels.Or for that matter from1969,1971, 1975, 1978 and1989

I agree. The 78 Tour is one of my favorite tours. Raw, swinging, rocking and relaxed.

I wish the movie captured the staging of the song as well as the Hampton video does. The camera focusing on the singer in a close-up almost completely takes away the song's power. If you just listen to it, it's perfect, but if you "watch" it, it falls short.

Ronnie was so wasted that it was a miracle that he was able to play and not to fall. It is great that he was able to quit drinking and has remained sober.Sorry to bring that up but each time I watch that show,I feel bad for Ron.

I don't think the others were that different. Mick had problems with cocaine, Keith with alcohol and Charlie had some problems too...so Ronnie isn't the only one who's drunk!
But these were the Stones until not many years ago....

Not sure why you feel bad for Ronnie - he didn't feel bad then.
