This question was posed elsewhere but belongs here as well. Yes, crime is terrible in Kingston but crime is abundant in much of South America and Mexico and The Stones regularly play there. Keith's affinity for Jamaica is well documented, so it stands to reason that surely, at some point, Keith would have broached the idea of pulling this off. Does anyone know factually if it was ever even discussed / attempted and what has been the biggest hurdle? Surely nothing could be a more logistical undertaking than playing Cuba, and The Stones pulled that off.
Aside from crime (which actually is worse than for most of South America and Mexico), is there a market for rock concerts? Cuba is quite American music focused through all the radio stations, but I doubt it is of any relevance in Jamaica. One of the attractions for Richards to live in Jamaica was that he was totally unknown. Quite the same as why Jagger visits India so often: he is completely unknown there.

Cuba has 10 million inhabitants while Jamaica has just 2.7 million inhabitants. Special circumstances in 2016 for Cuba - plus a sponsor who paid for the free concert.
I don’t think there’s a strong enough market for it, unfortunately. Also, younger generations from Jamaica prefer hip-hop and NBA to ska and cricket. Times change.
