Is the Japan "soundboard" 2 cd set a decent listen and quality?

Unless something has come out very recently, there is no "soundboard" recording known to be in collectors' circles of the Vancouver 72 Stones' show.

Thanks. It seems to good to be true. It’s a boot on eBay. The beginning of the cosmic consciousness.

There is a new one released:

And this is the one earlier mentioned, what I read is it's an upgrate, no soundboard:

Good Stereo audience

It’s cool because we can hear they originally intended to do an acoustic/hybrid acoustic country set in the middle of the set, but there seems to be sound issues. I wish they kept Ventilator Blues in the set because it’s a good sub for Stray Cat Blues

In the discussion about the '69 Hyde Park show the word "raw" can be used. This show has somewhat the same vibe. I especially enjoy the struggle with Torn & Frayed before Keith and Taylor hit their stride for a delicious ending. There are boots that are unlistenable but this is not one of them. Complaining about sound quality misses the point of being transported back in time. This show is easily identified in photographs because Keith is playing stage left, presumably for Happy, before they decided it was better from the right side.

Totally agree!

Tumbling Dice doesn't have a solo break, You Can't Always Get What You Want is more compact, and Sweet Virginia is all electric due to the acoustic guitar issues that are evident on Loving Cup and caused Richards to abandon it midway through the song.

A bag of nerves on first nights, indeed!

Any boot is a good boot!

I get what you’re saying though. They didn’t make a soundboard recording and we only have the audience recording through however many tape copies they made.

Big fan of it. Very close to the album version except of course KR’s guitar wasn’t working and we get to hear what they mixed out of MT’s original part

There is only this one source from this show. All bootlegs and releases are made from this same source tape. Some may be remastered or whatever but it's always based on the same tape.

It should have been played regularly on the tour.It would have been better than Sweet Virginia

No reason it couldn’t have remained the prelude. I think they just couldn’t get it right for whatever reason as they tried it four or five times

They have made soundboard (mixing desk) recordings of every show from 1970 on.

Good news anyway because that means there could still be a soundboard of Newcastle ‘71 somewhere
