Yes Al, Noel stated in late '95 in NME that they were offered the support slot at Wembley Stadium but couldn't do them due to touring commitments. He was quoted as saying that "he personally would have loved to do it" but it wasn't possible.

Welsh legends, The Manic Street Preachers, have been mentioned a few times in this thread. There’s been some wishful thinking over a support-slot.
Of course, we knew, but here they explain why they’ll not be supporting Oasis in Cardiff, later this year.

Oasis reunion - HOF nominee
A little convenient of ol' Jan isn't that?
In the midst of a reunion tour that building couldn't hold them. They better just send Bonehead and Guigsy to keep it civil

Are you referring to Jan Wenner???
He was removed in disgrace from the Board at the Rock Hall in 2023...

If Oasis gets inducted does Tony realistically go in with them?

I doubt it although according to an interview in Record Collector in Dec Tony claims they have had some very sporadic contact through the last couple of years. It would however be very nice if he joined them but my money is on Bad Company this year anyway.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Tony suffered a heart attack at some point, fairly recently. Perhaps this bout of serious ill-health prompted the contact.
Bad Company? The only thing I know about them is that Paul Rogers was a member. Have Free been inducted? At least I know a handful of their tunes!

Yeah that was horrible to read Al, I hope he is ok now. If Free is not included it's a minor scandal I think (That ORANGE sound!!). Bad Company had one great song that I received as a gift on a mixed CD 20 years ago, can't remember the name but it was a banger. Obviously Oasis are much bigger, just thought about BC being from the 70's an' all.

They are currently second to last in the fans’ poll.
They won’t have to worry about who exactly gets inducted.

Yep… for Liam. He knows what a meaningless farce it all is.
2025: it’s about one band, only. OASIS, OASIS! Let’s get pissed and smash thing’s up!

I'm honestly really shocked Oasis is so low. What gives? Is it just that they're not big in the US?

It is a little mystifying. They were pretty big circa 1995-96, but I think their popularity dipped thereafter.(What's The Story) Morning Glory sold around 4 million copies in the United States. The follow-up, Be Here Now, peaked at #2, and all subsequent studio albums reached the top-30 on Billboard; their last album actually charted as high as #5. So, I'm not sure why they are not favoured by R&R HOF voters. Across North America, they were never anything less - aside from their first tour, there - than an arena-size band.
Edit: I've just noted on Wikipedia that only three of their singles charted on the Billboard Hot 100; Wonderwall (#8), Don't Look Back in Anger (#55 - BAFFLING, and Shock Of The Lightning at #93 Now, I know the singles-buying demographic is a little different, but...

Well they sold out MSG twice and I saw them numerous times in the US in 2005 and 2006 and they had a very steady following and fanbase. It's all got to do with that if the singer says something's not cool people won't bother. Twitter is quite an outlet I've come to understand. I've always listened to the advices of Keith, Mick, Charlie, Townshend, Ronnie, Liam and other exemplary role models and that have held at least me in good stead through the years

Yeah this is partly why I think it's so very weird that they're doing so poorly in the polls. One would think that with all the news and excitement of the long awaited 'never to be' reunion this year would be an easy slam for them.[/quote]
