Good news as there is no way I could afford BOTH The Stones and Oasis at the moment. Hopefully 2026 will be all about the Stones and then there will be time for Zak to come back as Mr Waronker is unfortunately a rather bad choice IMHO. He doesn't fit Oasis at all. He lacks both the swing a la Alan White and the thunder thump a la Starkey.

There's a vide on on YouTube, where they compare his lacklustre drumming on Little By Little to that of Alan White's. It's as if the former simply couldn't be arsed. Alan White was such a 'busy' drummer, though. I had never really paid a huge amount of attention before, but it is very audibly evident just how much effort he put into his drumming on those records. Didn't Noel compare him to a 'jazz drummer' at one point?

Yeah Whitey learnt to play the proper way, his big brother has a great short lesson on the DVD single of Stop Crying Yer Heart Out in 2002 about jazz drummers and marching band drummers. Waronker looks like he sits in front of a computer or summat and it sounds so too. Takes both the soul and the thunder out of the music unfortunately.

They'll be back

Stones and McCartney always say the same thing too. So far they've been right.

They'll of course be back. Makes sense they'd do this year then take next year off. Not that this year was THAT taxing for them, but they played many of the bigger places and got the "reunion" out of the way. They can do a more normal tour in 2027 (too many bands are on tour for next year anyway already), or perhaps an actual new album.

But I'd have always thought they were doing this year then resting to figure out next moves. But I can't see this being a one and done.

Well, Bill aside, the Stones were younger when they got their break, with Keith still being a teenager when they recorded their second single, I Wanna Be Your Man. Upon learning that Noel was born in 1967, I was quite surprised. He had, of course, been round the block a few times already, as a roadie for the Inspiral Carpets, etc. Still, at least management didn't insist he fib about his age, unlike what old Bill had to do

yep, when I was in UK indie bands in the early noughties, I was told I had to lie about my age, as, at 26-27, I was 'too old'.

Well, the press, at the time, considered them to be positively ancient; or, at least, far, far, too old to be performing 'rock music' As ridiculous as it all was in hindsight, I think it should be remembered that a prime 60's rock-act, still going at it as their members have all entered their 50's, was an unknown. U2, Green Day; they don't get the same age-related scrutiny, do they? My bet is that it's because Mick and Keith proved it doable.
