Very tragic.

Going by the some of the YouTube ‘Shorts’ that have been posted, it’s beyond apparent that the entire crowd were going absolutely bonkers at points during the shows. Usually, those in the rafters are firmly seated, and I’m sure, feeling somewhat detached from the chaos, below. Not at an Oasis concert, it seems.

Noel spotted using public transport... again!

Not a bug deal, really. He's said, before, that he uses buses and tubes.

When was the last time Jagger took the Tube?

You may recall in the "Being Mick" documentary where Mick is sitting round chatting with some people (definitely including Pete Townsend and possibly Matt Clifford) and somehow the conversation goes on to this very point.

Much hilarity, and Townsend even asserts that Mick wouldn't even know how to use the Tube.

I am still mesmerized by the audience and sales Oasis, Coldplay and Springsteen can reach. Breaking records after records. I guess only U2 might rival with these if they want to.

Coldplay just always sells. I couldn't pretend to know exactly why, but that's just been consistent.

Oasis is coming back from a 15 year breakup, and for many was the last "meaningful" band people remember before the industry just became different. So I understand, especially in this nostalgia time, that that is selling really well for high prices.

I wouldn't think Springsteen is in the same realm. I know his tour sold well, and ticket prices for him were much higher than normal, but other than that I don't think of him similar to the other two these days. He's just a consistent seller, and does long tours.

Agree that Springsteen is not in the same vein. Nonetheless, he has attracted nearly 5 Million people and earn .8 Billion US$.
For Coldplay, same as you i have no definitive explanation for their worldwide success. I read that the global audience should reach 20 Million grossing 2 billions US$ or so with 16 Wembley !!!!!

Yeah, Coldplay are an utter head-scratcher. I enjoyed their first two albums, but my interest fell off a cliff thereafter. For some bizarre reason, they’ve grown bigger and bigger.

Oasis are something special. I have no doubt that even Chris Martin would foam at the mouth for the opportunity to join them onstage.

Coldplay have surfed the generations better than most bands. Those of us who sort of fell off after Viva La Vida still like hearing the old songs, and plenty of younger people like the more recent stuff.

Ben Gibbard said in an interview a few years ago that the only way for Death Cab to have got bigger would have been to go the Coldplay route and start working with trendy producers, and they didn’t want to. Which is no shade to Coldplay - they really wanted to be huge, and they did the right things to get there.

Everything you’ve articulated is true; and I really do give Coldplay credit for this. They taped into whatever was needed to keep them at the top. A lot of- for me - has suffered, but they are huge, and one has to admire them for that. I still don’t ‘get’ what their fan base enjoys about their current output, but hey-ho! I’ll still listen to Parachutes.

Coldplay are an easy target, but if you look at it from an unbiased view, I feel like everyone would have to respect them. They may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they've managed to stay successful in a time where that's nearly impossible. Are they really the last "band" at their level and timing to sustain a career like this? They are as big as all the guys that started in the 60, 70s and 80s, and 90s if you include an Oasis, and that's just so rare these days. I may not like them, but I'd be crazy not to respect them and know they didn't just get lucky. They tap into something, and do it consistently, that takes skill, effort, and planning and I tip my hat to that. I wish I liked them more though enough others do so they are not hurting for fans.

I see they put on a good show in Dublin last night. I know people that were there. They seem to be having a good time on stage.

The set-list is near-perfect; the only gripe - for me, anyway - is that it’s static. This is nothing new, as historically, Oasis are notorious for sticking rigidly to a set-list for an entire tour.

Ticketmaster face value fan exchange has been open since late last week. Sep 6 remains tight, while more and more tickets are feeding into Sep 7 and staying there, except anything under $316 disappears immediately. There might still be some uplift on those but looking at Tickpick, prices are falling there.

I just wanna get in for the rock bottom price I saw, $91 for one or both. Supergrass is playing Sep 5 and that might put things in perspective as they were always way better live.

I'm in the same boat. Crossing fingers, and think it might if we really wait till last minute. But the people I'm going with might not want to wait that long.

Good thing I am really close to the venue and also know it's OK not to go.

Both Toronto are dipping below 200USD and even close to 150 on Tickpick and will be keeping my eye on the other shows.

The whole ‘cult thing’ is the result of a growing nostalgia, and mote broadly, yesteryear in general. This, coupled with Oasis’ near-legendary status, here in the U.K. They really did rule British music in the 1990’s, and many of the Generation Z attendees, are the children of the Generation X fan’s from the 90’s.
