Red Nose Day rolls out the red carpet for Oasis: The Reunion: The Movie

It would be fantastic if they invited Tony McCarroll to play "Supersonic". Alan White is a more skiled drummer - yet I always felt sorry for McCarroll. At least it would be fair if the Gallaghers would not talk badly about him in public anymore. And, as pointed out before, McCarroll's style fit to "Definitely maybe". Of course one has to say that White's playing on "Morning Glory" is an integral part of the album's magic.

During the last days I listened to the nineties albums of Oasis, memories came back. Does anybody know what became of Paul McGuigan?

Thankyou, Al.

"Definitely maybe" was a great debut of course. Oasis had something special then: They just threw together their b-sides and had "The masterplan", another great collection of songs.

"Morning Glory" is great, I have to admit that I have a soft spot for "Be here now". I remember the concert they played in Frankfurt in november 1997. The hall was full of english fans who did not get tickets in the UK. The band was totally on drugs, it was one of the craziest concerts I have been to. Noels amp broke down, it was a huge choas, but somehow impressive. I still enjoy songs like "Fade in out", the live version as well as the studio version with Johnny Depp. And the opening of the "Be here now" shows was totally over the top, but funny: A chauffeur jumped around a Rolls-Royce, and Oasis came out of a phonebox. "Be here now" was a great opener.

Oasis has a lot of good stuff, but seriously, Definitely Maybe, Morning Glory and The Masterplan are all pretty great starting points. Those ones alone were enough for a career.

And to add to this: there were more than enough 1994-'98 leftover B-sides to warrant a second compilation; Take Me Away, Cloudburst, etc.

Yep, I could listen to The Fame, I Got The Fever, Angel Child (THAT Middle 8, genius!!!), Street Fighting Man, Man Of Misery, Let's All Make Believe, Flashbax and My Sister Lover all day long + Round Are Way which didn't even make The Masterplan which was kinda odd.

I don't know this one! What was it the B-side of? For me, as good as those 1994-98 B-sides are, they did become predictable around the time of Heathen Chemistry: dirge-like 'Noel ballads' mainly. There were still gems, of course; Idler's Dream, for one.

It was supposed to become a b-side but ended up in BE's cannon instead, still recorded as Oasis. Yeah, some of those Noel tunes were not up to scratch, I got extremely surprised he bothered to release that old demo, Don't Stop.
But Pass Me Down The Wine, I believe In All, Those Swollen Hand Blues and Boy With The Blues were rather good. Eyeball Tickler was amazing, that one was like a 95 b-side almost! Agree about Idler's, that's a tune!

Didn't GEM write Eyeball Tickler?
