OT : Eddie Cochran on "Rockandroll music" origins and future

Eddie Cochran did not live long enough to experience the full evolution of rock and roll music. He died in 1960 at age 21. He started his career as a professional musician at 15.
In this 1959 interview, he mentions that rockandroll had been there for a while (long before it was named) and his predictions on the futur of the music are spot on.
Eddie seemed like a great guy.

The interview starts at 13 minutes into the clip

Indeed he didn't live long enough to experience rock and roll as it developed over the past 6 to 7 decades. But all the greats that surfaced after his passing, the Stones, Bruce, Zeppelin, The Who, U2, Rod Stewart, even Paul McCartney and many others made sure his spirit stayed alive by recording great covers of his songs. Many admired Elvis, but it was Eddie Cochran songs they played. His impact on the past many decades can not be underestimated thumbs up

20 Flight Rock! When I saw Keith Jan 93 in Vancouver, he opened with an Eddie Cochran song, but I can't remember what it was. I wasn't familiar with it but I read it here in a post a long time ago.

Eddie like lots of the rockandroll pionners was born in the 30's. Lot of these great musicians got stucked in their roots identity and culture.
The next generation of rockers born in the 40's in comparison were able to explore the musical possibility and musically evolve in the 60's and 70's.
Jimi Hendrix was born in 1942 and Eddie was born in 1938; not a big difference in years. Jimi moved to London in 1966(London was Hot!) which probably helped him transcend his roots.
Eddie toured in England in 1960 but there was nothing going on musically in England.
I am bringing these facts because I have always wondered what would have Eddie Cochran done in the 60's?. Going Elvis (good but very conservative) or going Jimi wild, and inovative?

It's hard to say where Eddie may have taken it had he lived.

What's often overlooked is that he was a seriously good guitar player !

His influence can certainly heard in Keith's riff based rhythm playing.

We'll never know which direction he'd have taken, sadly. Would he evolve and survive the 60's? Buddy Holly interests me the most, I must say. He engineered a huge direction-change with It's Raining and It Doesn't Matter Anymore. I think he'd have stayed contemporary, for sure. Chuck Berry, of course, just ploughed on!
