From Spin:

Heart Postpone Tour Due To Ann Wilson Cancer Diagnosis
Jul 2, 2024 | 10:33 AM
Heart have postponed the remainder of their 2024 Royal Flush tour dates after vocalist Ann Wilson was recently diagnosed with cancer. The group played 20 shows this year as part of their first roadwork since 2019, but last month preemptively canceled a summer European run while Wilson underwent a “medical procedure.” They were scheduled to return to the road July 30 in Cleveland as part of a handful of stadium shows with Journey and Def Leppard and had performances on tap through Dec. 15 in Las Vegas.
In a statement, Wilson, who just turned 74, revealed that she “underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful and I’m feeling great, but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I’ve decided to do it.”
“And so, my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover,” she continued. “To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025. My team is getting those details sorted and we’ll let you know the plan as soon as we can. Thank you all for the support. This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing.”
Wilson closed her note by saying that “respectfully, this is the last public statement l’d like to make on the matter.”
Ann and her guitar-slinging sister Nancy have led Heart since the mid-1970s but have also navigated a series of rough patches in their relationship dating back several years. They came back together late last year for a New Year’s Eve show in their Seattle hometown and a performance as part of the National Hockey League Winter Classic.

Get well soon Ann! I think I've mentioned before that back when Heart was first starting out, they moved from Seattle to Vancouver. They started doing local gigs wherever and my older sister told me they played the high school dance in Hope in 73! She remembers then doing a number of Zeppelin tunes.
Several years later, when they released Barracuda as a single, Nazareth was pissed off with them because they thought they stole the riff from This Flight Tonight. Nancy laughed and said they stole the riff from Zeppelin Achilles Last Stand.

That original Heart band was something special. Ann's voice was and still is magically powerful. Nancy's guitar playing and energy has always been excellent, but the guy's backing them up were equally a huge part. Roger Fisher, as shown here, really is responsible for a lot of that sound. As is Steve and Mike in the rhythm section, and Howard Leese on keys and additional guitar. It was a unit that gave them that gentle sound, but also one that could be at times incredibly inspired by Zeppelin and such. An explosive live act, and while Heart had some good tunes in the 80s and 90s, they definitely lost something when Roger left at the end of the 70s, and the rest of the guys in the early 80s. I wouldn't need them to reunite, but just knowing they were on good terms like Ann and Roger in this video (when it doesn't seem like the rest are) would be enough. They created something very special that has lasted, its nice when the bands can see past the BS and acknowledge that. Heart was never JUST about those fantastic sisters.

It was good to see the original band reunited for the RnR Hall of Fame induction a few years ago.

Agreed, and they crushed it. Very professional and really rocked it. Sad, but unsurprising, it was very tense behind the scenes. If I remember correctly, they really had to twist Ann and Nancy's arms to get them to just do one song with them.

We played on a bill around 2012 in Vancouver with a Heart tribute band 'Barracuda' that featured Roger Fisher. They were quite amazing. I guess he's not a full time member but makes appearances on the West Coast sometimes.

Roger Fisher was a fantastic guitarist. What was the reason he left the band? Was it over songwriting royalties, or did he just get tired of touring?

They originally moved up to Van because Ann's boyfriend was a draft dodger. Not sure if he was one of the band?

Roger and his brother Mike were in relationships with Nancy and Ann, respectively, yes similar to Fleetwood Mac. However, unlike Fleetwood Mac, when Ann and Nancy broke up with them, the guys were through the band and kicked out. I believe both of the guys cheated on the girls, so that didn't help their cases, but basically the sisters were the face of the band, so once they didn't want them around they were gone. Roger was obviously the guitarist, his brother was their manager and very integral to their early success.

A relative in Las Vegas who had tickets from postponed show this year said just yesterday that Heart had rescheduled the Vegas show for February, I think the 23rd.

Vancouver is rescheduled for next spring at the Coliseum. Lots of tickets available but a bit pricey in my opinion. Saw them several years ago in Abbotsford with Joan Jett opening and those were $74 including taxes/fees.

I haven’t checked depends what you call pricey might not be to someone else.

Got very good tickets in Knoxville for just over $100 total.

True, I don't mind spending $500 for Stones tickets. Aprox values for Coliseum show, $200 floor, $170 for lower bowl, $100 upper bowl.

Can anybody explain to me why Ann Wilson uses a wheelchair for her performances on this tour. She has a broken elbow and needs to sit to relieve the pain, which is totally understandable. And she said she is fine from her cancer treatment. I'm not trying to be insensitive at all. She can walk fine.
How about a thrown or beautiful chair? The slippers on stage and wheelchair is too much of a pity party.

I went in March to the show. Apparently she has balance issues and is worried about falling and breaking other bones on stage.

There are moments where she is wheeled on stage, wheeled off during songs Nancy sings, and back and forth for the encore. It's very dark when this is happening and I imagine she's scared of hurting herself again.

All that means is she's "Ok". Having gone through taking care of someone that had chemo etc "fine" is "Ok" and they're not "fine" but they're alive yet feel awful all the time.

Immune system is gone. A lot can go wrong. She probably shouldn't be touring.

You have a good point, if you have to sit in a wheelchair on stage you shouldn’t be performing.

Really depends on why. Zack de la Rocha had a valid excuse for being unable to walk. Same with Taj Mahal. Lucinda Williams had a major stroke and gets helped on and off stage. Then there was Phil Collins.....
