Very little chatter about this show. Are people losing interest? Say it ain’t so!

I guess there's just not much to discuss anymore. Almost the same show each new tour since 2012. Back in 2017 the live updates threads were still around 20 pages per show.

Unless they whip out Depending on You, Bite My Head Off, or any other song from HD, definetly not very interesting to watch from afar.

Attending the actual show, different story. I would love to see them in person one more time.

It was my first show with earplugs, which might have impacted my impressions, but:

Nice surprises included Keith's guitar playing, which was much better than Chicago I in 2019. Also Mess it Up, which was better than I thought it would be. The young people around me were into the new songs, which is a good sign. Honky Tonk Women was amazingly strong and combined with Midnight Rambler is just a double ass-kicking. Sweet Sounds, too was really impressive. Wow. Paint it Black was a highlight, lead by Keith. Get Off My Cloud was also really good.

For the negatives:
Angry isn't so good. The guitars drive nice and hard, but that's it. She's a Rainbow was a delightful fan choice, but too hard to do live, I think. It was kind of flat. They could trade in It's Only Rock and Roll for Street Fighting Man. Keith's voice was weak in parts of his trio of songs. Happy and Little T&A fared better than Tell Me Straight, which I like, but not this performance.

Finally, the bass fluttered horribly on the extreme bottom end all night. This might have been exacerbated by my earplugs, but others noticed it too. I hope they fix it for Sunday night. It was really bad.

They looked tired at times, well why not, they are old! And the old warhorses (men and songs) can still slay an audience.

It's no debate, the Stones are still great!

keith's voice sounds nice and strong to me on happy

to be fair i'm judging from a video and haven't heard t&a or tms yet

his voice was noticeably rougher the first couple show this tour supposedly because he was still recovering from covid

Last night's show got a 78 year old blues and R&B legend for the opener, while Sunday we have a 32 year old female country singer. Quite a contrast, would have voted for Bettye for both shows.

Question for you guys who have been to other shows, Sweet Sounds of Heaven seemed like the 'short' version, is that the one they've been doing at all the shows that they've played it at?

Good catch Dean! I thought her band was phenomenal as well. Been a while since I've seen an opener win a crowd over. A few sporadic claps after the first song. Each song seemed to gain crowd momentum. By the end pretty big ovation to end the set. I'm gonna do a deep dive into her albums this weekend. She made a fan of me. And Dean, I've been reading your show reviews since I've had internet access, so as Mick would say, Take a Bow! Seriously appreciate your work over the years. Was rooting for Can't Ya Hear me Knocking for BV. Still got a handful of shows remains for it to be played.

Poor PiB. Help Mick and mr Jordan, for gods sake. Give them something to answer to. But apart from that - great show 2024.

thanks for the kind words. I miss that my very old Panasonic Lumix had great sound and zoom for a pocket camera. My sound seems marginal on this camera and I swear it used to be a bit better. Pocket cameras seem to wear out/tire out or something. Ha.

Watching these shows year after year you soon notice that Mick does the exact same moves , Watching Gimme Shelter, at precise moments during the concert he walks in exactly the same direction making exactly the same moves . Is it about control or obsessive compulsive disorder.

The cool spontaneous moves pre 89' and exciting stage clothes are gone, each show is a carbon copy in every way, totally at odds with Ronnie and Keith who never play it safe, never play things exactly the same.

This is probably the reason there is not much chatter anymore. The shows are predictable.

Great night in Chicago. One of the best Stones shows I’ve seen, which is ridiculous given their ages. Midnight Rambler with its Sweet Home Chicago reference was a particular highlight. The videos are great and always welcome (thank you!) but, as has been said before, you’ve really got to be there to appreciate it. If you haven’t seen them on this tour and you get the chance, then go!

Mick knows what works so he sticks with it, it has nothing to do with OCD. I don’t see the point in getting upset that Mick walked in the same direction at the same point in two shows. Are we really running out of things to complain about?

i'll agree that mick's performance is largely the same show to show but a lot has changed in the last decade

namley he moves less and dances less and less as the years go by(though find me another nearly 81 year old man fronting a rock band playing 2 hour sets in stadiums that can do any better then him or be more physically spontaneous in his performance)

i dissargree with you on the clothes he's had some very cool clothes this tour similar to other recent tours yes but cool none the less

i think you really need to lower your expectations a bit they're really really old

people they're age are lucky to be able to walk upright short distance without a cane or walker and there performing concerts in stadiums give them a little slack

also and i mean no disrespect but your comments about mick having ocd (i have ocd related to my autism mick does not have ocd) are unnecessary and are the kind of thing that causes you to rub some people the wrong way sometimes and start all these fights and arguments

which is a shame because you often make really interesting if not a little out there observations and i enjoy reading those

on a unrelated not check out keith's playing sftd and iorr

fantastic!smiling smiley

I'm 48 years old, I am still wiped out from yesterday. I didn't sing or play a note. A 48 year old spectator is wore out, Can't even begin to imagine they all do it night after night. I will add one final comment about last night. All the "you can't judge a performance by videos" is 100% on target. After being there last night and waking up this morning and watching the videos...it's a night and day difference. I was actually surprised by Angry last night, I thought it had way more teeth in person than in videos. I thought it was a highlight and I enjoyed all 4 Hackney Diamonds Tracks. Keith was on fire last night. Good to see because I thought he was a tad off in 2019.

Well he can't have it both ways, show me another 80 year old charging top Dollar for tickets, for mega bucks the show should feel fresh and give an element of surprise.
For me it's getting a bit stale, can't Mick just get out of this routine, i know it works but come on, show us the artist not the workout.

Great pic. Especially good capture of Keith Steve and Mick... but Ronnie's expression makes it look like Keith just cracked another joke at his expense and the other two rude boys got the giggles over it grinning smiley

I agree with you 100%.

There is not much of a surprise anymore.

The same motions for the same song show after show.

I'll still go to every one of their shows though!
