…. I feel like the obvious answers would be Sympathy, Shelter, Rambler, etc. but my vote actually goes to 100 Years Ago. That whole song is bleak and ominous about impending mortality. Nothing good is coming the narrator’s way.

I like when they do SFTD / PIB / GS / MR all in a row, because it's like a dark act in a play or something. When the had 2000 Light Years in their in '89 it added to the vibe.

Cooder's slide that sounds like slipping into death... we have a true gloomy masterpiece here!

Great post! I often consider this as well.

I love how the last segment of war horses are situated.

Perhaps it's the vibe of all of those late 6Os sounding songs that are creepily haunting. Lingering doom and gloom, It's all of Let It Bleed in a nutshell. They were definitely "ON" to something then. haha

As a curveball, I'd like for the Stones to open with "Gimme Shelter".
