RIP - Chris Eborn

Chris Eborn sadly passed away this week.

Chris was pretty much the original mega collector of Stones stuff. Its his collection that you see in the Geoffrey Giuliano "NOT FADE AWAY" book from 1993, that was basically the bible to me and many others who were starting to collect around that time.

The NFA book with his collection was, and still is just mind blowing. Pretty much the inspiration for Matts Hot Stuff book which I consider to be the sequel.

I had the pleasure of meeting Chris briefly once at Sicky Fingers in London in 1999 - a friendly and helpful guy,

RIP Chris

I first became aware of Chris Eborn thru another dearly-departed Stones' collecting warrior, my dear friend, the late, great, stone-relics, back in the mid-1990s. By and through him and the NFA book, I grew to learn of Chris' majesty within the Stones' collecting world. I admired so much of his collection from afar while aspiring to assemble a similar one of my own. Here, over 50 years into collecting and nearly 30 since I saw Chris' in NFA, I am still searching for things he had. I recently joked that folk like Eborn (and a couple others in our midst) don't have collections - they own museums!

While we never met and corresponded only once or twice, Chris, here's wishes for the afterlife and hopes that you will say hello to all those we miss with wishes that the turntable never stops spinning. You will live on with us, for we will talk about you and all of the joy your collection brught to so many among us.

Kick me like you kicked before
I can't even feel the pain no more

RIP Chris Eborn. He certainly led us down a path that many of us have followed. We exchanged emails a few times many years ago.

I shelve my books alphabetically by author. His book is filed under E for Eborn, not G for rip-off.
