Holy crap.

Ugh. That's terrible.

2 years ago one of my best friends died of a heart attack 3 weeks until we both turned 52. We were two days apart in age.

Unreal.

Devastated

Before posting this, I read all the nice messages you all posted! It was totally expected to have such a nice reaction here, for some reason I took them as directed to me… I want to thank Bjørnulf for such a nice gesture to make this thread “sticky”

Here a picture of Gazza and BV by Axel Schumacher (posted before but giving the credit to Axel)

Gazza was a very good and close friend, we created Rocks Off in 1998, to be honest I don’t have words to express my feelings. I’m going to show this thread to Heather, his wife.

He made everything with passion, dedication, and talent…

You can find Rolling Stones setlists in many places, but his website has a very special touch, his touch; that’s why we renamed it to “Rolling Stones Gigography 1962-2024”. He sent me more research liker studio sessions and more, he asked me to wait before publishing, since it won’t happen I’m going to upload them soon

This is one of his masterworks: [www.rocksoff.org]

This is Gary with me and Stonesdoug in Hartford, CT – March 1999, that was the first time we met

Whilst I never met Gary in person.
I remember trading tapes with him in the 80's via snail mail even back then his knowledge on the Stones was second to none.

I have a wee anecdote going back to these days. My ex wife was a Nurse at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. On the ward was an elderly Irish nurse, Doreen who had not long lost her husbamd. She was needing some work done in her house. I volunteered and one night she was making me a cup of tea she said "Hey Tony I hear you are a big fan of the Rolling Stones I have a nephew over in Ireland who also is big Rolling Stones fan ". So as the discussion ensued I asked what is his name ? to which she retorted Gary Galbraith. What a small world !! as I explained I knew him through trading cassettes.

Gary although we never met I alway's read your valued posts and knew they would be informative and accurate.

Condolences to your wife and all family members.

May you R.I.P and hear the 'Sweet Sounds Of Heaven'.

Very sad to read this.

I never knew Gazza, though as with so many on this forum I feel in a way like I did know him through love of music and all things Stones.

Thanks be to Gazza. Love to all his family and friends during this time.

Horrible news, what a great guy. I always had him edit my Stones reviews and articles that I used to write for Stones Planet and my local newspapers. He was more of my fact checker.

Rest in peace my friend.

It was so sad to wake up this morning in Atlanta, preparing for the Stones show here tonight, reading the news about the passing of Gary "Gazza" Galbraith.

Gazza was a great fan, and his knowledge was rare and unique, like an encyclopedia. In all the sadness, I will keep the great memories and times with Gazza, and he will be in my mind as The Rolling Stones play on stage tonight.

Learned about Gaz’ passing at 3.30 this morning. An hour later I wrote this in his remembrance.

AN IRISH ROSE

I saw an Irish rose shooting from the ground
He’s joined the dearly departed
Gone from here to join Stoned Mary
Grief stricken, left heavy-hearted

His looming presence casts long shadows
He’s joined the dearly departed
He lives inside us, our time too finite
Lives inside us, like a a statue in the twilight

An Irish rose
Gone, but not forgotten
An Irish spirit
A world of music betrodden
A fond farewell
And another goodbye
To another good friend

His posts were profound. I never met Mr. Gary Galbraith in person. Yet I admired his way of writing posts, in between warmhearted comments, humour and irony. May he rest in peace.

Gazza was great. He got me a ticket for that 2005 Ronnie gig in London where Mick showed up to sing Dance. I was only 21 then, took a flight from Vienna to London, must’ve been before smartphones were around… just waiting there in front of the theatre hoping for a stranger I chatted with on IORR to show up - which of course he did. I have that very fond memory of such a friendly, likeable person who helped me out without getting any benefit out of it. Don’t think we met at any gig after that, but we exchanged messages every once in a while and just really feel sad he’s gone so suddenly. I’ll miss him.
