Oh man, this is terrible. All I've ever read or heard about him is good things. Already I can see the out pouring of love right here. Just opened the internet this morning and this is the first thing I read. I'm sorry for his family and close friends. They must be in turmoil. Best to Gazza on his way to the better place.

I hope that one way or another he got to hear the unreleased part of the FFSO leak before his passing.

And I remember we owe him - among other things - the liberation of the SW outtakes/rough mixes a few years ago.
And didn't he post the rumoured Suresnes 2002 sessions for everyone to enjoy?

A classy chap for sure! thumbs up

This is terribly sad news, especially as he appeared to be well and loving life during these last few weeks, attending some Bruce shows in Ireland.

I first met Gazza in Glasgow in 2006, and had the pleasure of hanging out with him in Lisbon and Madrid in 2007 along with a few others well known on this board. It was great to see him a few more times over the years, most recently I think at the Cabbage Patch in Twickenham in 2018.

Great memories of a great man.

Shocking news and I am in disbelief.

I never met Gazza but we did do one snail mail trade about 20 years ago. From his posts it seems we both first got into the Stones at the same time with the release of the TV advertised compilation Get Stoned in 1977.

I always loved his insightful, common sense posts about all sorts of topics. Although his posts reduced in recent years, it was great to read his contributions.

It was nice to see him namechecked in one of the official Rolling Stones books (maybe A Life On The Road?).

A true Stones fan legend has left the building!

RIP Gazza

Does anyone have that picture of BV, Gazza, Vilhelm and Doug from IORR, Rocks Off, Nordic Stones Vikings and Shidoobee together? I reposted it back in 2012 but it appears Photo Bucket no longer has it.

mickijaggeroo I believe you have the original photo, could you please post it for us if you don't mind. Thanks.
I´ve been looking all morning for that picture, can´t find it...

Shocking news, and very sad.

I had the pleasure of knowing Gazza (and some of his best friends from Belfast who attended the gigs with him) well since 2003.

Met in Dublin prior to the Licks shows in September '03, and met him on many occasions in the years since. When I first met my now wife, Gazza and John (also sadly missed) made sure to host us in Belfast for an evening of drinking and music chat. Every year or two at gigs (Springsteen/Stones mainly) I'd meet Gaz.

He was such a generous soul. and such a welcoming presence. I could not believe seeing the messages this morning. Such a young age. Such a great man.

Gaz, if you can hear us, myself and Sachiyo and all of the Dublin crew you knew will miss you every day.

Very sad news. Never met him personally, but I felt like I knew him through his posts on this site. Very knowledgeable. Through conversations, in addition to the Stones, we both shared a passion for Bruce and his music.
