A question for guitarists what is the gauge of the strings of Keith's Gibson Les Paul junior, on the single cut and his double cut used for Midnight Rambler

I don't know about his standard tuning guitars specifically, but I saw an interview a while back with Pierre de Beauport saying that on the Open-G guitars, he used what would be a set of 11s (minus the low E) as Keith is apparently heavy handed and breaks 10s. He bends more in standard tuning, which his LP Jrs are kept in, so I'd hazard a guess he may use 10s to make it easier on his hands.

I Guess he uses 11/48 for six strings in standard tuning ,instead of 10/46.
But maybe i'm wrong , let me know if you have the information.

Several sets of these made it on ebay awhile back:

That being said, has anyone seen Keith break a string at a show?

Don't know why this caught my eye (for all I know, it may happen all the time), but "Miss You" at Metlife Show 1 featured all 3 of them playing Strats. Also, Keith's had a maple neck. For some reason I don't associate him with that guitar.

For most of the soul-ish tunes (Miss You and Mess It Up on this tour) he'll play a Strat.

Also, for some reason, he played Brown Sugar with a Strat on the 1972-tour.

He played a Strat on Let It Rock in 1978 as well.

Read Keith' book "Life". There's a whole chapter on strings, tunings and special playing.

Alan Rogan stated in 1983 that he uses 10's. Don't think he has changed the gauge, why would he?

He is not heavy handed while playing, scratch marks from pics on pic guards yes but quite a light hand on the beauties our Keith is.

Sweet Little 16 too in '78. Thru and Thru, YDHTMI. I love that Mary Kay strat he uses.

He played a Strat on Let It Rock in 1978 as well.

He has always used his Mary Kay strat or a '57 two tone sunburst back in the 70's.

In 95 he used a Rosewood neck strat for Shattered and BoB.

Yes, at one of the Anaheim Stadium shows during the Some Girls tour. I was kind of surprised a crew member didn't hand him a replacement guitar immediately, and maybe Keith was too, because he looked pissed off.
