Kino lorber is for the US market and all blu ray's I have from them are regio A
That are movies no music but I don't think they will make an exception for this one, because this happens to be a concert film.

Okay GJV thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like the Criterion Collection discs, they do coding as well. Hopefully they'll make a world-wide version later.

Looks like someone already beat them to the punch

10 month ago .... probably taken & upscaled from the 2011 BluRay disc.

I don't see 4k as an available resolution...I am waiting for the 4K disc to arrive

I don't see 4k as an available resolution.

The YouTube description says "4K Live Film" and shows a 4K-UHD logo. And the yt-dlp tool shows indeed 3840x2160 formats. But the video itself looks for me just upscaled.

Sorry if I missed that: Will the new version be speed/pitch corrected?

There's no info about this yet. Wait until it is released. At least there's no PAL color system speed-up (4% faster).

The release date seems postponed to 27-Jan-2026 - [KinoLorber.com] .

Thanks! The old version‘s running time is between 93 and 95 minutes.
On CeDe.ch it‘s 91 minutes for the new version. If it‘s the same cut and these numbers are right, then it won‘t be speed corrected.

At least it's a completely new scan from the 35mm original camera negative and therefore it should be running at true speed on the 4K-UHD and BluRay disc. As I wrote above, wait until it is released.

I don't see how it can be better quality that what's already available. If someone can explain the difference, please.

It's a new 4K scan. This means the picture resolution is now 3840x2160 and the colours are probably much better - so maybe the overall impression of the picture quality is also better. The 2011 release on BluRay was just Full-HD (1920x1080) and the DVDs from 200x had only a low resolution of ca. 768x576. Then there was the PAL color system speed-up with DVDs when the source wasn't 25fps which let the film running 4% faster.

The big letdown when this concert film was new was the sound - not the picture. The sound was thin with no depth at all. Although it said stereo on the convolute.

Agreed, and the edits are amateurish.

Anyone knows if this will work on an European blu ray?

If your BluRay player is region-free or can play Region A discs, then yes. Otherwise: no. See: [CeDe.ch] . But you could rip the BluRay as an ISO file, let the ripping-software disable the region code and then burn the ISO on a BD-RE / BD-R.

I’m shocked no one has scored a copy of this early to review. I remember buying a small stereo receiver just for my VCR when it came out on VHS to listen to it in stereo. The sound still sucked. Hoping the 4k has some improvement sound wise but I’m not holding my breath

Looks like it's even faster, they might sound like The Chipmonks.

Just to double-check, does anyone for certain this Blu-ray is Region A? For example, Voodoo Lounge in Japan was actually region-free even though Amazon listed it as Region A. Thanks!

All European links posted above say Region A. The only way to be completely sure is if someone has reliably checked it with his player.

Just buy a 4K player, it has the best picture and sound and it is region free!

Another workaround would be to rip/convert the BluRay (e.g. with MakeMKV) and play the file via a dedicated media player (e.g. FireTV Stick). Some BluRay player might also play MKV from their USB input.
