@exilestones - thanks for your post but it's not clear if you actually own Atmos headphones yourself ?

Yes, I own the Corsair Void v2 Wireless Gaming Headset. This headset is on sale again at Amazon: [www.amazon.com]

so is there really any advantage to paying more for the older japanese blu-ray and if so is there somewhere to get it cheaper?

He certainly meant that if you already have the old Japanese BluRay, then there's barely an advantage to buy this new 4K re-release.

Yes, I ment that if you already have the Japanese blu ray there is no need buying the new version only just on a new blu ray disc.

ok

thank you for clarifying that

Ok thanks and you're using the "3D Audio for Headphones" setting on the PS5 ? That makes me think it's not "actual" 5.1, let alone 7.2, especially over bluetooth, but just some well done "3D" simulation. Many sound systems like my JBL 5.1 soundbar does that pretty well but when you feed it an actual discrete 5.1 source you can hear the difference immediately.

I agree that it's a hassle to be at the sweet spot between your speakers to get the full experience though, much more convenient to use headphones !

@Irix - I checked out Wilson's guide [headphonedust.store] and there's no mention of any "Atmos headphones", which makes sense.

These 'Atmos for Headphones' are mostly binaural recordings (encoded in AC4-IMS Immersive Stereo) and can be used with almost all normal headphones. Binaural recordings were already made in analogue in the 1970s with an artificial head, mainly for audio dramas on the radio. In 2023, JVC had the XP-EXT1 Exofield headphone on the market for 7.1.4 surround - [Amazon.co.uk] . But this headphone has some issues like interference noises, up to 20 attempts to find the proper 3D setting and the surround-sounds were max. 10 cm (4 inch) away from the head. No comparison to a proper 7.1.4 system with speakers. Here you can test the difference between a stereo mix - [YouTube.com] - and the binaural headphone mix - [YouTube.com] . The proper 7.1.4 mix for speakers of this is available via streaming from Apple Music, TIDAL or Amazon Music.

But that's off-topic since this 4K Kino Lober LSTNT re-release has no sound in Dolby Atmos.

Correction: I researched the settings - Dolby Atmos is the correct audio setting on PS5. My son explained it. I'm using the dongle for the 2,4 GHZ wireless (blinking green light - not the blue light on the headset).

With the headset and a PS5, no receiver is needed.

If you are getting a new system to keep up with technology, the PS5 supports 4K video, 5.1 surround sound, and Atmos.

I think all of the From The Vault releases are in 5.1 surround sound

Has anyone given a thorough review on the new release of LSTNT yet?

Thanks, Irix is right, rather OT here but that was useful info ! I already own a PS4 that's also Atmos capable for BluRay discs (not games unlike the PS5 I'm guessing) so I think I'll give these headphones a try !

No reviews on line just AI generated crap. All I can say is that I have a half way decent surround set up. I also have owned the Japanese Blu ray when first released. The 4k sounds much better to my old ears then when I saw it theatrically, better than my VHS tape, dvd, and the Japanese blu ray. The sound is never going to win awards for clarity. I found the pic really good. I could pick up some stage wear and tear when Jagger does the ramp in Black Limousine. To me this movie was always a missed opportunity. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Hope that helps

Does anybody know if there is a 4k streaming version of this?

It's only listed as home video on KinoLorber.com. They also have streams and mention this explicit for a release, but no stream is mentioned for LSTNT.

Thank you

Thank you

You can check the availability by yourself on the KinoLorber.com main webpage. There, go to the search bar and type in "Let's". Then hover the cover thumbnails. While LSTNT shows only 'Home Video', the "Let's Get Lost" release shows 'Home Video', 'Streaming', 'Theatrical' and 'Educational'.

well i've got it and i'm pretty satisfied with my purchase

i've always loved this movie for what it is and not what it isn't warts and all

and as i've never owned the japanese blu-ray i can't compare to that but this is a very nice looking release not as good looking as the blu-ray for live at the max but much better then ladies and gentlemen and a bit better looking then the blu-rays for gimme shelter, texas 78 and rock and roll circus

comparing the blu-ray and 4k discs i can't say there's a huge difference between them so if your considering upgrading from a standard blu-ray player to a 4k one for this i wouldn't recommend it just buy the blu-ray version and save a few bucks

although if you do get the 4k disc it also comes with a standard blu-ray

the sound is noticeably better then my old dvd or betamax copy and i thought sounded pretty damn good through headphones

that is the the 2 channel stereo option i don't have a 5.1 setup so can't comment on that and haven't listened to the commentary yet

this release also comes with subtitles for the lyrics which is kinda funny to turn on and see what the poor folks who did them make out of what micks singing

let's just say they're some noticeable mistakes

as a stray thought how did this move ever get a pg rating what with all the f-bombs mick drops throughout and the various images shown during time is on my side (severed human head on a stick and the um... guy peellaert image from the book rock dreams)

Ditto on always enjoying it for what it is. I never understood the knocks on picture or sound or even content. It’s a perfect representation of that moment in time of their career.

Received it today. It's a new scan compared to the japanese Blu-Ray. You can see it because the scanned image is slightly larger on the 4k disc. Picture is better than the old BD. The colors are more vibrant and especially dark scenes are clearer than on the old transfer. Sadly the 5.1 sound is messed Up. The bass is extremely loud and makes IT unlistenable. The stereo sound is better but I don't hear much improvement to the japanese one. If you love this movie it's worth upgrading.

I have the 4k now and it is improved to my eyes and ears. Despite the hated cuts and sped up timing, I still love it.

Try to remember how it felt in the US to go 8 years without a Stones tour from 1981 to 1989. This film and my excellent VHS of the Hampton show I attended (thank you Video James) was all we had to fill the gap. Fond memories.

I noticed that too but couldn’t find it on the 4k, so I watched it on the blu ray. Not sure why they didn’t include it on the 4k though.

4K's have most of the time no extra's,
The extra's mentioned on the backcover are almost always only for the blu ray.

Just got the Japanese bluray (because I got cheap and it’s in region b) and watched it through after many many years.
I wonder who sang backup vocals in Miss You(”oh, baby why you wait so long”). It sure isn’t Keith. Another Mick?

It’s that good old Ian McLagan who provides a lot of backing vocals throughout the entire 1981 tour.
