or a used PS5 4K & Dolby Atmos.
Atmos headphones are available Amazon.
But these are gamin headphones, right? Are they suited for music? I can't imagine there are discrete drivers to recreate an actual Atmos mix, and would they "connect"?
Yes, the headphones are suited for music, gaming, and home theater. The Play Station 5 is an amazing machine. I don't know if it is an actual Atmos mix, but they are definitely much better than stereo! I have some info I research posted below.
These Corsair Void v2 Wireless headphones connected with the PS5 (PlayStation 5). You can say they are gaming headphones and much more. I got them to go with my Rolling Stones Atmos recordings (Hackney Diamonds & Welcome to Shephards Bush).
These headphones with digital surround sound amazed me with how the sounds seem to be coming from different directions, similar to, but not as good as, being in the center of 7.2 Atmos surround sound speakers.
My old Blu-ray player played 5.1 surround sound, but not Dolby Atmos. I looked for a new Blu-ray player; there were only two players I could find that could process Atmos and 4K video for a reasonable price.
I explained the problem to my twenty-eight-year-old son. I told him, "I love Black and Blue in 5.1 surround sound. It's awesome how I hear Billy totally separated behind me, then as that's going on, Ollie starts playing percussion in the front left speaker. It's like I'm in the room with the guys playing "Stuff." It's so cool!
Even though there is a dedicated 5.1 track on the "Welcome to Shepherd's Bush" Blu-ray, I could't get the 4K video on my TV with the old Blu-ray player."
My son suggested a PS5 to play my Atmos and 4K, saying, "This is what you want! The PS5 is the best 5.1/Atmos/4K player around for the money!"
I didn't particularly want a gaming machine. He was correct, the used PS5 he bought me for Christmas plays 4K, 5.1, and Atmos without any issues.
So, I upgraded my Blu-ray player to a PS5. I have nice 5.1 surround sound speakers and a Denon Receiver (highly recommended by me and many reviews). I put a disc in the PS5, and the Denon AV receiver knows the type of disc, and the Denon automatically selects 5.1, 2,0, or 7.2 sound.
I don't have 7.2 speakers for Atmos. I was surprised that "Hackney Diamonds" has a 7.2 soundtrack but not 5.1 soundtrack. The "Hackney Diamonds" Blu-ray won't play properly in 5.1 sound.
I wasn't about to buy new speakers right now. Of course, I relayed my Audio/Video problem to my tech-savvy son. He informed me that I could just add speakers to the speakers I currently have for proper 7.2 Atmos playback. I wasn't spending money on more speakers now.
Another issue I have is that I need to be in front of my entertainment center for a proper surround sound experience. I am often not in front of my entertainment center. I am across the room in front of my computer, which isn't in front of my entertainment center. My son suggested Atmos headphones. I thought, "How could headphones with two speakers be Atmos surround sound?"
I got the Atmos headphones. My son connected the Bluetooth headphones and adjusted the PS5 menu. (The "Dolby Atmos" setting on PS5 is actually for home theater systems, not for headphones.)
I put on the headphones, and they blew my mind! Sounds were coming from above, below, the main vocals were centered, and the back-up vocals were separated from everything else that was going on in the music.
Set up PS5 audio for Dolby Atmos for headphones.
Many headsets support Dolby Atmos on PC/Xbox.
You need to hear it for yourself. I invested in these Atmos headphones, which I bought on Amazon. Amazon has easy return policies, so I could easily return the headphones if I wasn't satisfied.

"The Rolling Stones' 2023 album Hackney Diamonds features a dedicated Dolby Atmos mix, available on a Blu-ray disc included in limited edition box sets. This spatial audio version offers improved, less-compressed dynamics compared to the standard stereo release, creating a wider, more immersive soundstage."
Key Details on the Hackney Diamonds Atmos Release:
Availability: The Atmos mix is featured on a Blu-ray disc within the limited edition CD/Blu-ray box set.
Audio Quality: The Blu-ray features lossless Dolby TrueHD for superior, high-resolution spatialization, allowing for better instrument separation and depth.
Mix Characteristics: The Atmos version provides a more open, "non-brickwalled" sound, which avoids the congestion found in some stereo versions.
The Blu-ray/CD box set also includes the 12-track album, a 64-page booklet, and exclusive photos, and a 3-D cover.
"The Dolby Atmos version, which enhances clarity and detail and is a remarkable improvement over the hi-res 192kHz stereo versions that are also available. The Atmos soundstage is enlarged for all the instruments, yet is weighted towards the front channels. There are improved dynamics and no brick walling, allowing for a clear mix and thankfully lacking the congestion of the stereo version. By turning up the volume, listeners can feel the impact of the recording, even when listening to the Atmos version as a stereo downmix. Naturally, the Blu-ray benefits from a lossless encoding in Dolby TrueHD compared to the streaming version, bringing greater transparency and spatialization, leading to a refinement in the rendering of instruments and vocals."

I believe all of the From the Vault series features a 5.1 and 2.0 soundtracks.

Recd mine from Bull Moose last Friday. No corrections or upgrades were done on audio or video. Save your money.
The existing BD is great, but isn't this supposed to be a new scan? Did you watch it on a 4K TV?

It's the original trailer not the one for future blu-ray

the old Japanese blu ray was already superb

I also can't say I saw very much difference with the 4k disc, and if you don't have a 4K player and 4K tv than there is no need to buy this new one, the old Japanese blu ray was already superb.
But if you only have the very old dvd, than you have to have this new version.

so is there really any advantage to paying more for the older japanese blu-ray and if so is there somewhere to get it cheaper?

He certainly meant that if you already have the old Japanese BluRay, then there's barely no advantage to buy this new 4K re-release.

I certainly hope the 4k disc will actually contain a real 4k transfer. It was Shot on 35mm film so real 4k should be possible
