Someone posted here fairly recently about an aborted plan to release the Philadelphia show.

Pray tell

I would love to hear another official release from the 1972 tour.

There is a limited number of us who would pay for this, and Mick and Keith could probably care less if there was a release.

At this point in their life, it is the new material that keeps them in the headlines. Releases from the past seem to fade quickly after release.

I hate to say or even think this, but it will probably be after one of their passing that this stuff will show up.

One just has to look at Michael Jackson. Prince, Hendrix, or others to see how the music that was overlooked or unreleased to see what happens.

Sorry if this offends anyone but I think this is rational.

I agree with you, but in my opinion there are a lot more people who would like to hear material with Taylor than we think

and why don't they release ladies and gentlemen on vinyl?

Probably the sound is not good enough and the sales of the cd version wasn't good?

Something else:
I couldn't find the official blu ray version of L.A. 75 in my collection.
What was that again? Does it not exist because the quality wasn't good enough to release it on Blu-ray?

They could release the shelved 1972 live album that they did overdubs on that was all songs not released on GYYYO. Or the radio show they made of the album before they decided to fix things.

Not only that, but a streaming release is a no-brainer. They're the Rolling Stones, they're going to get a ton of streams.

I understand the money is made in physical releases, but releasing a hi-res streaming version and a limited run box makes too much $en$e

The interest of the Mick Taylor era - they need to stop screwing around and release whatever unreleased live and studio material there is from 1971-1974 because the people that are interested are not going to be interested for much longer if nothing happens sooner than later.

They're not Elvis.

On the other hand, Dylan continually releases box sets with unreleased material, combining them with his new albums, without any problem...

The 1974 Live Recordings CD Box Set (27 CDs !!!!)

[bobdylanstore.com]

Can you imagine what a similar box would be like with all the soundboarding recordings from the '72 tour?

Do the Stones have an "official" archivist type person on board? From the outside looking in it appears that no one is driving this plane (see what I did there).

Their unreleased live and studio cuts are worth many multi millions if done right. Over time the estates will benefit hugely from a proper archive management and releases.

I don't think so. It seems they've contracted "experts" to look through tapes and have used Don Was in the past.

'I got the boxes out. Universal said,

We've got a fan helping us who's a walking encyclopedia of the Stones. Can he send you bootlegs from the period?

He sent me loads of things, but when I listened to them I kept thinking, Wait a minute, this isn't from Exile, this is much later. I was listening to them with Keith, and Keith's going, Mick Taylor sounds fantastic on this one. And I said, Yeah! Doesn't he? And I looked at the list. And it wasn't Mick Taylor, it was B. B. King, and we only recorded it five years ago.'
- Mick Jagger, 2009

It would seem logical that someone somewhere would have an idea, or some people. It's ridiculous.

Gives a fantastic peak into why it took Chris Kimsey four months to go through what he did just to make TATTOO YOU.

Since they missed the opportunity to deluxe EMOTIONAL RESCUE in 2020...

There's no rule saying 'Oh it has to be' this year based on...

Just do it. EXILE wasn't an anniversary.

Neither was GOAT.

Who wants to make a guess?

IORR - yes
BAB
ER
U
DW
SW
BTB
ABB

I can't see anything being deluxe reissued past IORR.

I would love it is there was more - and not even finished - just as is! At some point there won't be any more recording new vocals for whatever - unless Mick has already gone through everything, which is extremely unlikely since he doesn't like the be "bothered".

Is there some fantastic unreleased never bootlegged song from the IORR sessions that they could release ala Plundered that will really get people's attention?

Or any other album?

IORR involved some GHS.

BAB was brand new.

SG... brand new.

ER...some SG in there.

U... one old song

DW... a mess - and some of that leftover mess is better than half the album

SW... what, three leftovers?

BTB... there has to be several leftovers

ABB... there are the two we know of... still pointless to reissue anyway

If there is finally a Deluxe this year, what would be the deadline by which something would be known?

I’d be happy with 50th anniversary of IORR mixed by Giles Martín. Think he did a great job on GHS and include the proper speed Fingerprint File

That would be excellent. And hopefully they include Through The Lonely Nights in that. And whatever else - the original Black Limo, the longer Dance Little Sister, the different mix of If You Can't Rock Me, Ain't Too Proud different mix - the rest went on TATTOO YOU deluxe. They could've done better with that. So much more from SG and ER to do.

I can't remember how far in advance any of the others were "announced". 3 months? There's four months left of 2024. If they do it seems it will be geared towards late November. You know, that ridiculous mentality of Christmas shopping season or whatever people call it.

So if there was any chance they would release a Deluxe in November, we should know something by September.

Hey man, it's just a guess since Sept 1 is the beginning of meteorological fall for the Northern hemisphere and the last quarter of the year. I'm sure Ronnie will babble blab something soon - he usually does when he's not painting, beating up some girlfriend, sitting in with whoever or in rehab (was going through the chronicle of 2008-2011 last night - he was out of his mind - it's amazing he didn't get fired).

What SSRI are you on, or are you suffering from autism ? The crux of the Mick Taylor era is not about Taylor's playing with the Stones only, but what Taylor played between ca 1967 and the mid 9-tees.The Stones made Taylor famous. That's all. Try to see the bigger picture if you can

of course, man... I'm not going to blame you if they don't announce anything in September and there's finally a Deluxe in November, but thanks to you I now have an idea of possible dates for an announcement.
If you want to know my opinion: I think it will not be this year.

I would tend to agree, but these things don't make the same splash they did earlier on. It also wouldn't surprise me if they simply dropped it with little fanfare. That said, if we were betting, I'd agree it's likely next year or shelved again for the time being. Studio work seems more like hobbies to them since they know the return on the investment of time and energy is minimal.

I would love ER reissued or Black and Blue. Lots of stuff from Pathé Marconi and München in the can still.
A cool thing would be to release a big SDL of BaB and include a CD each of Mandel's and Perkins' contributions.

ER extra material is vast,, so much great stuff still there...smileys with beer
