Isn't the Wild Horses Version in SF Deluxe the same as the version heard in the movie? It's the original track of the album version without the overdubs (piano, electric guitar, backing vocals)

I think folks often forget the main issue when discussing all this stuff ..and I'm probably going to to bore many of us to tears with the below.

The reason we have music and enjoy listening to music, the whole reason the music industry exists, is that music gives us an emotional response that we have a love and a need for. [It's like a drug !]

The most important factor in how that music communicates with us is the talent of the writers/composers of that music.

The ability of those wonderful musicians to communicate with us via any recorded medium is then further dependent on the skills and feel of those involved in the recording process.

The recoding technology itself [be it analogue or digital] and the engineer's mastery of it is then a further factor.

Lastly, the playback equipment's ability to retain and reproduce the musical information is vital in enabling the music to communicate with us as it should.

It follows from all this that the main arbiter of how good a recording is should simply be the answer to ...how enjoyable is it to listen to ?

Is the recording itself and the playback equipment allowing those musicians to give us that buzz we're looking for ?

Does it preserve the pitch and timing information in a way that retains the swing or the beauty of the harmonies and chord voicings.

Today we have recording technologies, both analogue and digital, which are capable of capturing the beauty and power of music ...but we often forget what the goal is.

We hear many technically impressive recordings which somehow just don't do anything for us ...and we have many high end audio systems that can't play a bloody tune !

We need and should admire all the technological boffins and , without them, we'd have nothing...

..but they need to remember what its all for , and judge their results using the right musical criteria !

...but I suppose it's relevant wherever we're discussing the sonic merits of this or that release.

Now right at page 17 my on topic question: Is there any confirmation of the release of the Shepherds Bush show of 1999? One single source is no source. Or am I wrong?

Mercury Studios mastering WELCOME TO SHEPHERD'S BUSH on their website seems like a good enough source to me. I don't need to wait for a street date, it's coming.

My local record dealer down here in NZ told me he had discussions about this release a couple of weeks before it was even mentioned here on IORR. So I believe its coming....

Edit: Having said that, it seems to have disappeared off of the Mercury site now...weird...

Wahey!!!! This is GREAT news!!! I bought the boot a couple of years ago, but to see it is gonna be great!!! Now down to the off-licence to fill up the bar cabinet!!

When is it due to be released? Last time around it was a nightmare to get hold of the DVD combo from Wiltern. I finally received it 2 months after release and I do not want it to happen again. It was among the worst life experiences I've ever had next to losing the Champions League final in 2006 and turning of the telly when Schwarz got a red card against Romania and realized I had missed the match of the century
