no question....night time , mr pitiful, love train ain't to proud to beg , just my imagiation....no one better!!!! others??? all the old chuck berry tunes.....
I think their version of "Hard to Handle" forever disqualifies the Black Crowes from consideration.
Guns 'n Roses... Let's see, which is worse, "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" or "Live and Let Die"? But their "Mama Kin" is pretty good, though I've never heard the original.
Dare I say I always thought Bowie did great covers? Stones do as well though; all you mention and I love Harlem Shuffle, Everybody Needs Somebody, That's How Strong My Love Is and so many others too. Indeed, best cover band, I agree!

Yeah I'd also recommend the early stuff, i. e. 1963-1965. But they haven't been a real cover band ever since.
But in the 1950s Elvis Presley was a great cover artist too (listen to the "Sun session" and his stuff up to 1957). Later he sang too much country and gospel for my taste.
Around 1970-1972 the J. Geils Band was great. Ry Cooder is another great cover artist of the 1970s. Etta James is still doing great covers on her albums.
Time Is On Side, Little Red Rooster, You Better Move On, Not Fade Away, Around and Around, etc.. the list continues... Although I love all original versions, the Stones always made these kind of songs their own. They give those songs an edge. Love In Vain is the best cover ever done... it's sheer brilliance.
agree with the LIV remarks. Although the original stands on its own as one of RJ's masterpieces, the Stones somehow transform the song into an "otherworldly" piece of art. Don't know how they got this end product from listening to the original source, either. brilliance.
yes the RS cover a song and when someone else covers it people think they are covering a RS tune ......... thats why they are the greatest garage -bar band -( sorry nrbq) cover band going.......
