Oh yeah, back in 1981 they did re-arrange and interpret the songs with rock attitude: the riffs and intros that were not originally played with guitar, were transformed to guitar rockers then... "Under My Thumb" and "Let's Spend The Night Together" were superb examples: sweet sounding pop songs (irony) turned to be nasty rockers. I still think that the majestic opening of Still Life album is one of the greatest Rolling Stones moments ever.
Nowadays the transformation goes backwards: the songs that once were driven by nasty guitar, are now played by Chuck or the horns or other sidemen (think for example, "Bitch"). Once nasty rockers turn into a harmless Las Vegas numbers.
