Maybe not boring but just easy done song to put in the album. No history telling lyrics... but well better than nothing.
And must be perfect in stadium by expectations created by fans

The lyrics is one of the strong features of the song, imo.

It can be interpreted as Keith singing to his maker: How long do I have left? Or to a lover: How long do we have left? Or both. A stroke of genius, imo.

The verses are absolutely beautiful. The bridges with Mick are more simple, but it works.

I agree with Skippy - it's (one of) the best Keith tracks in 30 years. How Can I Stop is slightly better, though.

I guess I should've been more clear - Tell Me Straight has an essence to it that runs with Locked Away, Thief In The Night, Robbed Blind, Demon... a kind of thematic structuring (like how Love Is Strong is Wicked As It Seems, Sleep Tonight is Coming Down Again), a chime, a beat, a great melody.

Of course How Can I Stop is the greatest song he's ever done. But in terms of a ballad that moves, Tell Me Straight is perfect, really. Hate It When You Leave is another one of those. Coming Down Again... All About You. Slipping Away. Thru And Thru. Any of the 3 on BRIDGES.

Dare I say it - Losing My Touch.

It resonates. The suspended whatever F sharp dissonate chime... what a chord. And then the song moves... enough. It's chunky, it's heavy, there's some riffage going on that seems counterintuitive yet it's perfect, yet it rolls, it swings.

In particular I pointed out a musical theme, like Baby Break It Down, Illusion... nothing has ever sounded like Tell Me Straight yet it has elements of past songs, in movement, maybe the closest could be a little bit of The Worst.

Tell Me Straight could easily fit on UNDERCOVER as a doomsday ballad.

Because it is a doomy ballad.

I don't have much to share, but what a great, simple and mature song from Keith. I regard it as a pearl. It has quickly become one of my favourite Stones songs.

The performance at MetLife Stadium was delightful. It was particularly charming to see Keith's beaming smile as Ronnie delivered a tasteful solo.

Agreed, it was played nicely last night too, Keith really selling the song with deeper feeling vocally and a beautiful solo from Ronnie.

Man Ronnie has some soulfull touches lately.

Starts about 4 minutes in, strong vocal from Keith and no mistakes.
