Not only does this one appear to have missed the boat, the boat appears to have sunk.

It's a submarine - it'll surface again when the next studio album is out. smiling smiley

Or sooner on the off chance that it'll need to come up for air.

Seriously, however, it would have been at least something to see a notice that it's been deferred instead of official mentions simply disapearing.

So do we think the documentary was all ready to go and just needed someone to buy it and market it? It really paints a poor picture that no one was interested if it's the case, or were they maybe after some extra financing to finish it ?

Or maybe it was sold so the pages are no longer needed on the mercury site ?

Another release window would be around the beginning of the tour...

Another question would be: since Mercury Studios belongs to Universal Music, why didn't they simply market it by themselves?

It's a horrible title anyway.

Where's CROSSFIRE HURRICANE 2?

Mick Jagger (November 2012): Hurricane: The First Twenty Years

(It ends after twenty years) because we ran out of time... We'd have needed another six months to go up to the present. I was disappointed we weren't going to do the whole story... Brett's excuse was that it was an interesting place to end, but we really needed another nine months to do Part 2. It's a good place to drop out, and we could always do Part 2 later.

I should have started two years before because it's quite time-consuming. I thought about it two years before but didn't do much. It was rushed, and yet we got a very decent film out of it. This is the best (Stones film) I've seen for a long while. This and Shine a Light are two of my favorites.

You could try to contact director Paul Dugdale or production designer Misty Buckley - but they'll probably only say that's all a decision by The Rolling Stones, Mercury Studios and Universal Music.

Oh. HA. Obviously I forgot about that part!

Well, it's over now, doesn't matter. Maybe for a deluxe reissue they'll release it.

Maybe it's been earmarked to fill the promotional gap between the current US tour and any planned or semi-planned extensions of the tour to other markets ?

Or maybe it'll sit on the shelf until all other HD activity is over ?

And what about this stuff that's supposed to be the in can to allow a pretty short order follow up album to HD ?

It's all anybody's guess at this stage in the proceedings.

Bets on a fourth single - yes or no

What song you think it will be

What song you think it should be

Yes

Depending On You

Driving Me Too Hard

I really enjoyed the (German based?) documentary 25x5 (amusingly with: "part 1").
I remember making jokes with fellow Stones fans about "part 2", obviously 50x5 (or 4 for that matter, but we didn't now then)§.

We were sure that would never happen grinning smiley

I was already very surprised to have been able to organize "40 years revival party, the unfinished Kurhaus concert of August 8, 1964-2004", with the band still alive and kicking (not on that event though winking smiley). A 50 years revival party? No way ...
Well, even a 60 years revival party could (theoretically, by me anyway) have happened this year only 4 days ago. Seeing the Stones live in Canada/USA was my top priority, though. Many will understand, I think.
The Stones and time, what to say?

Both great songs, imo, for different reasons.

That they didn't bother to rehearse the latter even once before the tour doesn't bode well for a single release, though smiling smiley

I think the singles should have been Whole Wide World, Get Close and Depending on You. In an uberly-strong album, these are exceptionally high water marks.

I understand why Angry was chosen but I don't think it's as impactful as those 3.

SSoH is in a separate class - possible it shouldn't have been a single, some of their greatest songs haven't been.

The 25x5 documentary director Nigel Finch and writer Andrew Solt are UK-based - [www.IMDb.com] . See also the credits in the picture at [VHScollector.com] .

But there were also several Stones-documentaries (e.g. 2002 'Let It Bleed') by Rudi Dolezal & Hannes Rossacher. They're from Austria.

I think this was the was the movie "Die ersten 20 Jahre (20 Years On)", produced by DoRo. Nina Hagen, a German Punk idol, made the intro and outro. She said something like 'This is a series production, please switch on this channel later for part 2'. I also still love the movie.

I vaguely remember that too. I do have it on video, but my recorder is long gone. See if I can find a DVD copy. I will likely remember more from those days then.
It's so nice to float back into Stones history and at the same time see the Stones live (Canada and Santa Clara CA) and listen to the great Hackney Diamonds music.

Angry has had way more success than SSOH and Mess It Up in regards to streams. Which is no different than anything they've done in the past - the first single is always the highest one of however many they release.

It is bizarre that they released SSOH as a single but they were probably counting on the Lady Gaga factor. Eh, like, say, Worried About You, which of course is outstanding, it wasn't a single (video single, yes), just like a few other killer LP B-side tracks that weren't singles.

And of course, the calculated release of Mess It Up. I dig it, absolutely, but it's not killer single material - and it's nothing like Miss You as, oh crap, I can't find it now, that Mercury Records promotion guy talked about (of course it's compared to something from SOME GIRLS, right?), it's somewhere a page or few back.

Get Close is fantastic. I like Depending On You, it's way better than, say, Already Over Me, but, uhhhh, it's a lot like Already Over Me and it's got nothing on Driving Me Too Hard.

EDIT: here it is
