I don't like the ring he is wearing. Looks a bit cheap.
And the sneakers don't fit, either.

Reminds me of the lyrics to Wandering Spirit...

I was a glutton at the banquet
And I split the finest wine
Trod the pyramids and ruins of Angkor
And I kissed the Mona Lisa
And had breakfast with king
And I touched the nerves of nature in the raw.

Especially in the presence of King/Queen and a State President. Charlie is missing .... with tips how to dress stylishly.

Tickles me that, even for a State Banquet, Mick sticks with his trainers.

[I suppose the black is a nod to decorum grinning smiley]

[That scarf has obviously been taking instruction from the one that attacked Keith at Hyde Park . I Wondered when it might start it's next offensive ! ]

I wear similar trainers all the time due to Arthritis. I find any other shoes painful. They also make me taller than my natural 5’7” - that may also be a consideration for Mick!

You are totally wrong. Sport shoes fits suit very well, he proved it many times so far. And they match his style.

I don't entirely disagree; I guess it depends on how 'formal' one wishes to present themselves. Mick looks fine, but it's undeniable that a smart, polished par of shoes look that much more appropriate, surely?

Now if we go to the formal dressing code department - of course, something we Charlie Watts fans know a great deal about - shouldn't Mick also has his jacket buttoned? Compared to President Macron and His Majesty Charles The Third, Mick seems more like attending to a Beggars Banquet or something..

Why should Mick Jagger dress compliant to society's norms?

That guy even got knighted with trainers on.

What's next? Is his hairstyle not formal enough?

He can wear whatever he wants as far as I'm concerned.

I was just amused by the "formal" black trainers.

I think hat even though he might be a "rocker", he should have dressed and behaved more appropriate (I am sure Charlie would have done so...). The sneakers on a black tie event are extremely "no go" and the unbuttoned jacket when shaking hands with Madame show were he really comes from even though he is supposed to be a "Sir".

He's probably not doing even that for any sort of decorum or compliance with dress code but because having trouser and shoe in same colour gives the illusion of a longer leg; ordinary trainers with dress trousers would break the trouser line and make him look shorter. He may look studiously casual but just as much thought as to image is going into his outfit as into Melanie's.

It's funny though that the trainers-complaint has been around ever since I joined this forum. It seems to be an ongoing thing just as the setlist complaints.

I cannot imagine Charlie going to a State Banquet with Royals/Presidents and wearing trainers with his elegant suit.
