A couple of meanings:
Their saying the songs on the new album are Hackneyed Diamonds (ala the double entendre of Forty Licks - licks as term for songs and a play on words on the tongue logo).

It’s the 60th Anniversary of Charlie joining the band (Jan 1963), so it’s their Diamond Jubilee of sorts. They started their careers as England’s Newest Hitmakers and they’ve progressed to Hackneyed (aka unoriginal, aka London-forever) Diamonds.

The song some stupid journalist asked from them in the press confrerence for European leg of VOODOO LOUNGE Tour why they start the show with such an unknown song. "To make it more well-known", I recall was Mick's answer.

Today was the day we'd all waited for - album name, even some artwork, and a timeline (announcement early Sept, album October)

Love the title, 'Hackney Diamonds'. They decided against 'Englands Oldest Hitmakers'.

It is happening! They're back

Damn, wouldn't it be great if the album was mix of unreleased material with Brian, Charlie, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman, Bobby Keys, Ian Stuart, Nicky Hopkins, as well as some new stuff. It could be their last. A homage to themselves.

Gotta love Mick. Reminds me of the Bowie-told story about seeing the Stones, and Mick, I think for the first time early on in their career.

Someone was catcalling Mick from the audience, telling him to get a hair cut and Mick replied, according to Bowie and a full cockney accent delivered expertly by Bowie, "WHA? An' look like you?!".
