This is old info pal, Micks shoes/trainers are built up to give him more height, don't ask me why, if you look at recent pictures or on Stage Mick appears to have increased his height when next to Keith/Ronnie.
It's obvious as he looks like he's going downhill.

Supposedly Jagger is 5'10'' and Richards 5'9''. In reality they are shorter of course but not by a large margin. You'll shrink with age namely.
I think Jagger's preference for platform shoes coincides with his preference for taller women.

I thought that it was a common knowledge that due to his back Jagger is adviced/ordered by his health specialists to use those special shape trainers with that heavy platform (yeah, a superman has his Achille's heel: his back). So it is not an aesthetical question (he probably misses his old favourite Zizi shoes). We haven't seen him without them for over 20 years or so. He was even knighted with them on his feet.

But funny to read other possible theories here... One sees what one wants to see... (I guess Mick would prefer those based on his vanity to be true than the real reason based on his health).

I actually didn't know about his back problem, Doxa. Maybe you are right then. I thought he started wearing platform shoes when he was dating a very tall girl about a decade ago (or more).

Maybe Mick is doing some more of those "funny" album cover designs in Paris...

If you mean L'wren (RIP) she was 191 cm (6ft 3), and not to shy use high-heels, so those trainers did not much help. Mick should borrowed some old shoes from Elton John in order not to look Napoleon-like next to her...

Yes he's been wearing those for decades, which presumably means something going on with his feet. So especially with that consideration it's amazing he's been able to perform at such a high level all these years.

In my days of editing a fanzine (long ago) I noticed quite often, on group photos of the band, that Mick at times lifted his heels by pushing his toes. I remember smiling at that (“okay Mick, you made your point”)
Great to see he (and Keith at Willie Nelson’s birthday party) are looking great. That really matters to me (don’t forget Ronnie )
