In the U.K., I could imagine it being the opposite: Van Morrison opening for Tom Jones. He’s a household name, here, and justifiably so.
‘Cheesy’? Sure, but Delilah, It’s Not Unusual, etc, are such terrific pop-hits. He’s definitely gone through a bit of a renaissance in recent years.

I'm telling ya, the guy is super badass. Amazing clips on Youtube from his 60's TV show singing with Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Wilson Pickett....and he totally kills it. Cymru am byth!

Funny just watch the Burt Bacharach at the BBC where Tom sings his hit Pussycat......back then I wasn't a fan of him but do more and more appreciate him as singer

One of the greatest vocalists to come along. Any vintage clip of him doing "Ill never fall in love".
What I truly admire about him is that he always kept an open mind towards new styles, trends. E.g his great performance in the 60's with CSN&Y.
And also that he has stayed true and searching as an artist to this very date. I have every one of his late era albums.

I’ve never considered him anything BUT a great singer. Amazing voice. Some of his song selections a bit dubious, but then, that’s the same for everybody!!

Saw him at Jazzfest a couple of years ago and was blown away. Saw him again this week and will go any time the opportunity presents itself.
His voice is still pure gold and his band is very tight and can play gospel, Led Zeppelin tempo rock and everything in between.
