Congratulations
No actual Rock 'n' Roll acts then?

I know that when I think "rock and roll" the first names that come to mind are Willie Nelson and Missy Elliott. (Nothing against the great Willie, but . . .)

I'd put The Shadows, Status Quo and Slade before any of those... but that's the big problem with the R&RHoF, acts are judged purely on US success and not the rest of the world.

This IS a great list, as are the subsequent additions. To the list I would add Procol Harum and Ten Years After. I know that not everyone is a fan of Alvin Lee and TYA, but, set against the groups already inducted, their Woodstock performance alone should be enough.

Boundaries have been iffy since the Million Dollar Quartet: Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee, and Carl Perkins.

Convinced the R&R HoF only exists today so we can continue to see the hilarious reactions from the silver haired folk

If we were to go purely on influence, my votes would be for:
Willie Nelson
Kate Bush
Warren Zevon
The White Stripes
Iron Maiden
Missy Elliott
Rage Against the Machine
Soundgarden and Sheryl Crow might both deserve it, and will probably get in eventually, but I don't see their influence on others as much.
The HOF should officially change its name to the music HOF, then all of this griping would stop. It is silly to have rap and country artists in a RNR HOF, but if one looks at a broader Umbrella, then it would make sense. That's just my 2 cents.

In what world is George Michael more Rock & Roll than Motorhead??

Absolutely. I forgot about Ten Years After.

Where is Twisted Sister? lol. I know Dee Snider says they don't belong but at least they are R&R. Saw them every Thursday at a club in my hometown in '79 and '80 and compared to some of the non R&R chaff they are worthy.
