"The tribute to The Rolling Stones legends by Amy Goodman will be installed on the Dartford High Street in early 2023" - [Twitter.com] , [www.Dartford.gov.uk] .

She is a good sculptor but listening to all these posts, Mick needs a new head. Keith looks great.

You could contact her about this: Amy Goodman (Sculptor & Portrait Artist) - [AmyGoodman.co.uk] , [Twitter.com] , [Facebook.com] .

I visited her website, and she is really good. Like some of the other posts on this thread, something seems wrong about Mick's face.

Since the statues will already be installed in early 2023, it doesn't seem that the sculptor will make different versions from which one will then be selected.

Maybe someone can give Amy Goodman a little feedback before the statues are cast in bronze.

Probably not. Early 2023 is here. I was thinking a statue is for the ages, so
the better, the better. I will support her work, there is a lot of homage here
and the Stones deserve recognition.

The belt and boots on Mick would not be 81/82, would they?

"Happy 80th birthday to Sir Mick Jagger! The Rolling Stones frontman and living legend attended Wentworth Primary School (with future bandmate Keith Richards!) and Dartford Grammar School, before reuniting with Keith on Platform 2 of Dartford Railway Station in 1961 and going on to change popular music forever as part of one of the world’s most iconic rock bands. Next month Dartford Borough Council will be unveiling The Glimmer Twins, a statue by Amy Goodman celebrating the two rock and roll icons that were born and raised in our home town."

She gave Mick buck teeth! Not a great image of him but Keith's is a bit better. Mick needs a re-do!

i don't know who this is supposed to be but its not lucille ball (maybe steve buscemi?)

the keith statue though looks great

(that is if it looks like the model pictured on the last page)

does anyone else think keith might've been involved in approving the statue designs?winking smiley

Perhaps when they are finished, she could do a statue of Brian for Cheltenham town centre ?

There was in 2005 a bronze bust of Brian Jones (sculptured by Maurice Juggins) at the Beechwood Shopping Arcade in Cheltenham (moved in 2018 to University of Gloucestershire, Pittville Student Village):

And there's also a bronze statue of Brian Jones at the [StonesFanMuseum.com] in Lüchow (Germany) since July 2022. The costs were € 20,000 (funded by fans) and the statue was sculptured by Sissy Piana:

Folk may recall that when the plaque on the station was proposed the (then?) Mayor of Dartford (Mr Kite) promised me, in writing, that the text would reflect the above 1000% correct description. We even lined up money to pay for the correction.

It was not done.

So we can hope, but with sadly little expectation of success, that any plaque for the statues is not as dreadfully wrong as that on the station.

This, before your very eyes, is how history is re-written.

Yes, Keith looks great, while Mick's face/head needs a lot of help.
Hope his hair and teeth/mouth are fixed... sort of looks like a donkey, or horse, or zebra, or even a giraffe mouth as is.
Maybe some of Mick's family will weigh in and mention something, or even Mick himself will offer the artist some helpful advice.

But that statement sort-of implies that The Rolling Stones existed before Mick and Keith joined, no?

Looks great, but Mick has 1973 hair, for some reason.

According to Brian's own words, The Stones was formed from the base of two bands: the one he was forming and the one Mick, Keith and Dick Taylor were coming from, Little Boy Blue And The Blues Boys from Dartford. Brian kicked out the blues purists lads (except Stu) from his band to get room for the Dartford guys (and Chuck Berry). Brian had initially a different idea of the band until he met Mick and Keith. Surely he was the leader, but the Dartford guys affected substantially to the nature of the band - not just accomplishing Brian's musical ideas.

Bill Wyman has a different story for sure, was not there when the band was formed, that is, when the crucial deal between Brian in one hand and Mick and Keith on the other was sealed. The Stones was born there.

Yes, that's what I've always understood, Doxa. It was Brian bringing together the two camps. The Stones evolved out of this merging. It's a good job that Brian was open to Mick and Keith's differing direction, as it enabled the Stones to become far, far more than just another 'blues band'
