Why wouldn't Jagger or Macca play this event? Both are Knights. I can see the Stones as a band not participating and I Get Elton John's position, but Macca and Mick should be preforming if asked by the new king.

Besides everything else it has to do with image. It wouldn't hurt Sir Reginald or Sir Paul's image to do this sort of thing. In fact it's in line with their work.
But the Stones, who still wants to keep a "sort of rebel" image, wouldn't benefit from doing it (at least not image wise).
Of course the Stones aren't "rebels" anymore but that is another subject...

What about Sir Bob?

He's no Sir because he's not from Great Britain (or specific Commonwealth realms) - [en.Wikipedia.org] , [en.Wikipedia.org] .

I think Sir Bob = Geldof

STG: Bob Geldof is not a British citizen (he's from Ireland) and can't be called Sir. He is a KBE though, like Sir Michael.

Oh, FFS! Too confusing. Am punting this one to Graham Chapman and formally nominate Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Chaste/Pure, Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot, Bors, Gawain, and Ector. It might liven up the proceedings.

Oh, right, I meant Sir Robert „Bob“ Frederick Zenon Geldof, KBE. [en.wikipedia.org]

But now I learn that being Irish he cannot be a fully fledged Sir but merely an honorary KBE, hence doesn't belong into Schillid's artistic photo composition.

Is it so that none of his knights will give Charles the honour?

Hadn't thought of him at first and didn't knew his nickname 'Sir Bob' because "I do like Mondays" and have only watched Pink Floyd's The Wall movie, Live Aid in 1985 as well as Live 8 in 2005. winking smiley

England should release a new "Downton Abbey" and "The Crown" in order to gave meaning to a meaningless way of ruling, we're in XXI century. Glad the Stones didn't get involved. British monarchy and all those knights and earls and medieval stuff and the joke of the world. Hope Scots break free from this nonsense soon

Big day is tomorrow. I had a look at the performer list and I was surprised to see no knighted performers. None of these knighted performers
Annie Lenox
Bee Gees
Brian May
Bryan Ferry
David Gilmour
Eric Clapton
Petula Clark
Ray Davies
Robert Plant
Rod Stewart
Roger Daltrey
Rolf Harris
Sting
Elton John
Jagger
Macca

are participating. What gives? To my knowledge none are on tour and most in excellent health. UK Coronation come along once or twice in a lifetime. Why the lack of participation? Is it Charles? Royals in general? Something else? One would think being a knight you would want to be there and give a memorable performance. What am I missing?

I thought I read somewhere that Eric Clapton will be there.

Erm… Rolf Harris?

Are those folks actually performing, or is that just the list of artists from the playlist Charles picked. The only performers I’ve seen listed are Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Bryn Terfel. It all sounds rather cringeworthy to me.

There's a photo taken this week of Chris Jagger waving to Charles, Charles waves back but doesn't say anything, maybe he didn't recognize him

It's just great showbiz for the folks who are into it...and probably brings in more tourist money than it costs in the long run.

I'm no ardent monarchist but it's all good entertainment and it got us an extra bank hol on Monday grinning smiley

Yes, Spud. For me, though, it’s the rich history and tradition I like. Noting the likes of ‘Ant and Dec’ in the Abbey, I cannot help but feel it adds air of cheapness.

For those wondering: the entertainment is tomorrow at Windsor Castle.

Oh yeah...I love and respect the history and tradition too.

I just don't go a bundle on some of the smarmy, sycophantic media presentation and reporting of it.

Yes, likewise, Spud. Especially from the BBC. I was watching the coverage on GB News, but it’s so amateurish. I’m flicking through the different channels that are covering proceedings.
