Really thought he had the best voice in CSNY. People wrote him off in the 80s, a miracle he made it this long!

One of my favorites, a song called "Delta":

A flawed human being (like a number of us) but a wonderful artist/musician. RIP, David. Your music will be with many of us until our time.

Two of my favourite statements he made...RIP

"The Beatles didn't lead the '60s cultural revolution. They just organized it for everyone."

"The '60s didn't end at Altamont. They ended at Kent State."

I was listening to the radio in my car, and tuned in to a station that never plays anything older than 1980, and they were playing "Eight Miles High." That's when I knew. "Uh, oh," I said. "He's gone."

RIP David
Glad I got to finally see him 4 years ago at the Olympia for a great show and his voice seemed as powerful as ever.

RIP David Crosby.

Turn Turn Turn was the second album I ever bought, after Out of Our Heads.

Together, individually, and in various combinations, I've been to around 20 concerts involving one or more members of CSNY. That's by far the most I've seen any group of musicians. Weirdly enough, I saw all four of them individually before I saw any of them together. I saw David do a couple of intimate solo club dates back in 1981, even before I saw my first CSN show. He had this rickety old piano onstage with him, and he never touched it except to play two songs; he did "Homeward Through the Haze," and then he said, "Do you want to hear a new song?" After a smattering of half-hearted applause, he played "Delta." It was the first time anyone in the room had ever heard it. The Daylight Again album wouldn't be released for another year.

One of the few (along with the Jefferson Airplane) to play at Monterey Pop (subbing for Neil Young with Buffalo Springfield), Woodstock, and Altamont.

I’ll always think of him as a Byrd.

RIP

Opening night of the CSNY Y2K reunion tour. Their first full-length concert together in 25 years. I was right in front, in the $200 "super fan" seats. I think that was even more than the Stones were charging at the time.

So anyway, they're playing "Ohio," and I notice the crowd is in an oddly celebratory mood. I mean, they're singing a song about four dead college students, and there's beach balls flying through the air right in front of the stage! I looked up at the beach balls, and shook my head in disbelief at the inappropriateness of it all, at how far removed it seemed from the spirit in which this song was originally written and recorded. My gaze then returned to the stage and I found myself looking directly into the eyes of David Crosby. He had actually noticed my reaction to the beach balls! We smiled and nodded in agreement at one another, as if to say, "Yeah, this really is a pretty @#$%& up situation, isn't it?

I think that's my favorite David Crosby memory.

So many memories of listening to him, and seeing him live on several occasions...with CSN, with CSNY, and also a guest appearance with Graham Nash singing backup vocals at a David Gilmour concert...
Can't get this tune out of my head along with many others....

"When I finally get myself together
I'm going to get down in that sunny southern weather
And I'll find a place inside to laugh..."

RIP DAVID CROSBY

From the Byrds to CSN&Y. Some of my all time favorite songs.

I only saw him perform once at the Live Aid Concert in Philadelphia in 1985. It was of the best "reunion" performances of the evening and there were plenty of them.

RIP David. You made it a lot further than many would have guessed and I am glad you did. Farewell

A long life well lived, but still such a loss. Safe journey David, and thank you for the music. When I think of high school, this is the soundtrack:

A legend. A true legend of the music industry. His music will live on for all time. My favourites of his are CSNY and CSN records. Adore them. Particularly his contribution to the Stephen Stills’ track Dark Star on the actual CSN album. I think this is a seminal track. Just wonderful.

Further proof, if any needed, that Time is Not on Our Side when it comes to The Stones releasing new material.
