I’m curious as to what those outside the U.K. think of Hi Ho Silver Lining, Jeff’s fist solo release. The recording is somewhat of an anthem here and is still heard regularly. The problem is that, although so many know it, I would wager that a sizeable percentage couldn’t tell you the artist responsible. Many that do know it’s Jeff Beck, see him as a ‘One-Hit Wonder’ A shame, really, although I, myself, thin of him as the ‘guitarists guitarist’ Anyway, regarding the wonderful Hi Ho Silver Lining, it really was so unexpected to witness him perform it live, alongside Eric Clapton at the o2 Arena, London, in 2010. The entire audience sang-along; such a memorable moment.

Yes, he was still firing on all cylinders (pun intended) only a few weeks ago...we'd mused in the Jeff Beck thread [iorr.org] that he was somehow the "Guitar Mick" managing to push through the ravages of time and sounding as good as ever. Even more impressive for a guitarist with all the technicalities involved.

It's too early of course but it's going to be difficult for a tribute concert to be organized as I'm not aware of anyone else being able to play his songs...

Some unusual but wonderful Jeff Beck moments :

I'm in the UK, and I can't stand that song. I love everything else he did with the Rod & Ronnie-era Jeff Beck Group though, and even more so The Yardbirds (forget Clapton and Page, their most innovative era was by far with Jeff Beck!).

Well, I like it! I suspect Jeff was a little embarrassed by it, though. It’s his equivalent of Radiohead’s Creep, in a sense.

The follow-up single, Tallyman, is even better!

I love Jeff for his time with the magnificent Yardbirds, but will confess to having little interest in his solo-work: Blow by Blow and Wired may be acclaimed, but it’s a musical-style that doesn’t appeal to me.

This was probably the best Jeff Beck gig I've been to, with his mates, ZZ Top as well.
Got there just after the gig had started, but the great fans got me to the front of stage roughly where this video was taken.
They all seemed to be taller than me, so big thanks to them.
It was also Jeffs' Birthday and his missus bought a cake on stage. smileys with beer

So were his last recordings the album with Johnny Depp or Ozzy Osbourne? Or something still to be released (hopefully)??

RIP to one of the greatest guitarists ever. But his work on Jagger solo albums was strangely unmoving and underwhelming

Just say RIP and shut up

Jeff adventured in so many genres, Blues, Rock, Jazz ... he was really unique and versatile.
Maybe, his move was impressed me most was his collaboration with Stevie Wonder.

Rest in Peace Jeff !
