Damn. I was listening to the Big Town Playboys yesterday. I got to say "hello" at the "Throwaway" video shoot and concert where he did a supernatural version of
"Oh Carol".

His Hollywood Bowl 50th Anniversary DVD is a wonder to behold.

Since you get points for coolness, don't even pretend to think anyone was ever as good as Jeff Beck. Not Jimi, not Chet, not Django. What a genius.

Sad Sad Sad

A player's player. His first two albums sit in my vinyl collection. Oddly, my memory just now brings up something regarding him and making albums/touring from some years ago - he said he did these things so he could make money to work on his cars, particularly Jaguars as he was a car enthusiast and liked them. Pardon me if my memory is wrong. RIP Mr. Beck.

This news made my stomach hurt. First concert I ever attended by myself was Jeff Beck with Jan Hammer in 1976 here in Saint Louis. I didn't have my driving license yet! Saw the man countless times and got to shake his hand.

Another one of my hero's.

The thing that has always blown my mind is that "Beck's Bolero" was recorded on May 16, 1966. It was so far ahead of its time, that when it finally appeared on an LP in July 1968, it still sounded completely fresh and not at all dated. And you've got to remember that in those days, even the most ground-breaking, cutting-edge stuff began to sound outdated very quickly.

RIP Jeff! I was lucky to see him the only time he came to Serbia in 2010. I even had binoculars just to better observe those fingers in action.

He gave us that iconic riff in The Yardbirds "Heart Full of Soul" and that brilliant club gig in the fantastic Michelangelo Antonioni film Blow-Up.

Did anyone get to see him play with The Yardbirds on their 1966 tour? I'm guessing DaveG was there.

RIP Jeff Beck.

RIP to one of the greatest guitarists ever. But his work on Jagger solo albums was strangely unmoving and underwhelming

Really sad news - the first time I saw him was in the film Blow Up with the Yardbirds.
Always will love this scene.
RIP Jeff Beck

He was amazing on Roger Waters "Amused to Death" though.

Saw him in a 1000 capacity club in 2001. He was on fire that night. One of the top 3 guitar shows I've ever seen.

RIP Jeff

As far as guest appearances go, i'd say this was one of the better ones-nice groove being laid down here, and Mick and Charlie having a giggle about something at 3:24.

Hey Sicilian, I regret that I never got to see Jeff Beck live. I remember that my sister, a year order than me, went to their show at The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in 1966. The next morning she told me that it was a very exciting show. I found out later that Jeff was out sick that night.
I have Truth on my perpetual playlist. There was nothing like it back then with Jeff, Rod at the top of his game, and Ronnie. It is still fresh.
RIP Jeff Beck. Thanks for blessing us with your incredible creativity

(The band toured with Page on bass, and Beck and Dreja on guitars, playing dates in Paris, the UK, the Midwestern US and the California coast. Beck fell ill late in the latter tour, and was hospitalised in San Francisco. Page took over as lead guitarist at the Carousel Ballroom (San Francisco) on 25 August and Dreja switched to bass. Beck stayed in San Francisco to recuperate with his girlfriend Mary Hughes, while the rest of the band completed the tour. After the Yardbirds reunited in London, Dreja remained on bass and the group's dual lead guitar attack was born.) - from Wiki

Thanks Dave. You didn't miss much in those days. I always love to hear your reminisces.

I saw his live show 3 or 4 times in the last couple years.
Each show was amazing! Rest in peace Jeff…

If a live performance of the Beck/Page dual-lead Yardbirds lineup we’re to ever surface, it’d be one of my personal Holy Grail’s.
