Changing setlists in 2023? That doesn't excite me any longer. It's too late anyway. That should have been done years ago - by now it doesn't matter. Play any song - people will come anyway.

If you need anything else than the fact that they are still on stage to get excited, I can't help you ;-)

I greatfull that they still exist and touring.
Looking forward to to a new album and a new tour.
Hopefully we also get more shows on cd and dvd from the vaults and also more outtakes plus b-sides will be released as a great box

“The Stones can get by very well cranking out the same old stuff over and over. They have no interest in catering for a significant portion of longtime fans. Only for a newer, younger audience of those who get their music from classic rock stations and attend concerts because its something they think is kinda cool.

Also, there are some longtime fans for whom the band can do no wrong. Fans who would be happy to hear the same 20-25 tracks forever more. As usual there are some rather patronising comments around us longtime fans needing 'to take accountability' for our loss of interest. I disagree. Us marginalised longtime fans who dare to question anything the band do are made to feel like pariahs for our temerity. Why? We were buying their albums, buying their singles, attending their concerts and contributing to their legend, way way before the majority of those who now pack out their concerts. Why should we not look for a bit of variety in the setlists.”

I couldn’t agree more. I bought my first Stones record in 1964 and nothing these days, or for many years, has excited me as much as their early stuff. The last record I bought was Steel Wheels and the last concert I saw was in 1981. That’s how long I’ve been disillusioned with the band. The reason you get no new product is that you, the fans for whom the band can do no wrong, are content with endless concert recordings and outtakes which the band sneaks out of the back door and a tour now and then to hear the same old. Your “collections” consist of the free downloads you get here with little or no regard for the band’s origins.

Sadly, I think that the band no longer has the ability to excite me because the control of the material I want to hear is in the hands of private collectors who, quite rightly, keep these things out of the public domain so that it isn’t bootlegged and overnight in the hands of everyone. I’m talking about the missing Radio 1 broadcasts, the Gomelsky tapes, Pretty Thing etc. And where is the demo tape that Elmo Lewis and Paul Jones (Pond) made, still with a member of Alexis Mourner’s family maybe. This is what all Stones fans ought to be interested in but too many fans appear to be more easily pleased

New album would be pretty exciting. And I would love a 'deluxe version' of a classic album with some finished outtakes. I loved Exile, SG, GHS and TY! Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge, IORR or Emotional Rescue Deluxe 2023 editions would be great!

I have accepted the fact that their setlists are predictable. They have been since forever, so they're not going to change that anymore, given the fact that they're almost 80 years old. One or two different songs a night, that's all we will get.

When the new album finally is released, I hope there will be a re-print of the '1971-20162023 studio albums vinyl collection boxset' by the way.

Well said sir. Right on the money! There is SO much stuff still buried deep in the vaults. And I include the ABKCO vaults in that too.

I had hoped, rather foolishly, that there might have been some kind of co-operation between the band and ABKCO in honour of the 60th anniversary. Both operations could have benefitted. Something like a full mono remix of Beggars Banquet and Let It Bleed - rather than just a remaster. That would be courtesy of ABKCO of course. Then for the band to play both albums live in their entirety. They could then package the lot together and market it as a joint enterprise.

Between both albums there are at least four stone warhorses - Sympathy, Shelter, Rambler and You Can't Always Get, plus Street Fighting Man if you stretch the warhorse tag a little. Certainly enough to pique interest beyond the lifelong fan market.

But, not a chance of course...

I just hope for a more varied sound on the new album. For me (altough the albums are good) very much of the SW and forward material have been a bit monotone when it comes to text, guitars and drums.

Good point, although in fairness they tried to freshen things up significantly, or at least Mick did, on Bridges to Babylon. An album incidentally I like very much. But reaction was mixed to put it mildly. The band are in a difficult situation. If they remain true to their roots they will be criticised for being locked in a time warp. Try to change things and they will be told 'This is not The Stones...'

The inescapable fact overall is that it is the big hits that resonate most with the fans And whether I, and others like me, get bored with this or not - and I certainly do - the bottom line is that the band will keep drifting back there, both in performance, and in style, as much as possible.

Talking of which. Hot Rocks has once again re-entered the Billboard 200 this week. At No.191, and for its 399th week. By a distance their biggest selling album ever in the US, even though it never reached No.1 on the charts...

They could also let Ronnie sing a song, to give Mick a bit of a break.

Agreed about B2B that they really tried. But apart from that most of the latter part albums are very monotone. Still. I would like a HIT of course. For the legacies sake. Wishing for a lot... I know....!

They won't be for much longer. So, live in the now, not what happened 30 years ago or during the FIFTY tour with Mick Taylor.

Could Taylor do any worse?

In what context? His solo shows? Because that's all there is since he'll never play with the Stones again.

And if you want to know how they make their set list..........................

This are the most streamed tracks:

1. Paint It Black [Aftermath]
2. (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction [Out Of Our Heads]
3. Sympathy For The Devil [Beggars Banquet]
4. Gimme Shelter [Let It Bleed]
5. Start Me Up [Tattoo You]
6. Beast Of Burden [Some Girls]
7. Angie [Goats Head Soup]
8. Wild Horses [Sticky Fingers]
9. Brown Sugar [Sticky Fingers]
10. You Can’t Always Get What You Want [Let It Bleed]
11. Honky Tonk Women [Let It Bleed]
12. Miss You [Some Girls]
13. Jumpin’ Jack Flash [Orphan]
14. Under My Thumb [Aftermath]
15. She’s A Rainbow [Their Satanic Majesties Request]
16. Can’t You Hear Me Knocking [Sticky Fingers]
17. Ruby Tuesday [Between The Buttons]
18. Tumbling Dice [Exile On Main St.]
19. Living In A Ghost Town [Orphan]
20. Street Fighting Man [Beggars Banquet]

that's the result of playing all these songs all the time at all concerts

How come I don't see You Got Me Rockin' then?

LOL. Well, on a serious note, because it has a grand total EAS of 8,846, which is way below the weakest of those Top 20, Street Fighting Man, at 43,000.

That site is only Spotify, Genie, AWA and YouTube. There's obviously a lot missing in regard to AppleMusic, AmazonMusic and blah blah blah.

Split the show in two halves:

1. Hot Rocks plus, which is all the usual suspects, then Keith's two.

Intermission, piss call.

2. Album cuts and other rare cuts, blues, c&W, just jam, @#$%& it. . .

through rings of fire while waiting for The Stones to come on

And yeah, the pits are too crowded. Can ushers maybe start holding the line a bit better on the self-upgraders?

...Intermission, piss call.

In the same vein -- i.e., urological -- as a now 68(!) year-old (and damn, how TF did that happen?), I don't take breaks while the Stones are onstage, and would prefer to not have to limit my pre-9 PM beer intake at their concerts. My enlarged prostate and I support this recommendation.

I've been excited eversince I'm a Stones fan, which started in the early 1980s. For me, every album, every new tour is like a dessert after the main dish.
