Yes, this list has been doing the rounds.

I don’t disagree with Aretha’s placing at #1, but the rest?

I have a definite top-four, but after that, it’s tricky. Linda Ronstadt, Sarah Vaughn, Dusty Springfield... even Whitney Houston.

Aretha Franklin
Elvis Presley
Marvin Gaye
Frank Sinatra

These things are silly . Can't be bothered with them .

You might just as well try to rank the greatest colours .

How the f^&* for example do you rank Hank Williams and Kate Bush in the same context ?

These pointless lists go to show how far the quality of the magazine, and the culture, has sunk... Adele above Willie Nelson - you wanna smack in the mouth for that? LOL. Let's have a list of most stupid lists...

The list seems a bit pointless to me as well - comparing Kurt Cobain to Kate Bush does not make to much sense. What are the rules that define the position?

So .... John Lennon, at #12, is the greatest caucasian singer of all time?

Exactly! And number 52 obviously should be much higher. Bunch of rubbish

On the 7th day God created The Rolling Stones

Any top list that includes miserable thom yorke should not be taken seriously. Little Richard, Chester Burnett, Gaye, George Jones and Jagger should all be in the top ten together with Whitney and Aretha.

I would think that a singer's range should factor in when trying to compile a list like this. That being said, the fact that Frankie Valli isn't even on here at all is astounding!!!

A desperate way to sell magazines and become part of a discussion, so mission accomplished from their perspective.

But as far as relevance to anyone or anything...this just feels tired.

Are they talking about vocal range and dynamics or impact and success? What a dumb list Courtney Love? Bob Dylan? Omg

It is a completely silly thing, to even make this list … but when I saw Leonard Cohen at 103, I smiled.

In 1993 Leonard won the Juno (like a Grammy, but Canadian…) for male vocalist of the year. Taking the podium, he said “…only in a country like this could I get the male vocalist of the year…’ making us all love him even more. A critic once described his vocal range as ‘from B to B flat…’

Excellent poet and songwriter and, in my opinion, a unique and great vocalist, but not to everyone’s taste. I miss him like crazy.

One of the criteria must be ‘personal life’ if I look at #86.

Dylan above Elvis?

I am a huge fan of both but that's just ridiculous.

At least that twerp from Smashing Pumpkins isn't on the list.

Elmer Fud sings better singer than a lot on this list.

No Liam Gallagher? Love it!

Mississippi John Hurt is on here, deservedly. Such a smooth, warm, comforting voice.

Cheryl Crow and Linda Ronstadt have sung opera; at least Linda made the top 50..
.

And of course there is noise about Celine Dion not being on the list at all.

Maybe Madonna ain't in the top 200 but she is better than a lot on the list.

I've heard people make the case that Lennon really was the greatest rock singer who ever lived, but I suspect it's got more to do with his voice being so familiar to people of a certain age that's it's become embedded in their DNA, and any hearing of it today results in a chemical reaction in their brains that makes them feel all warm and gooey. Personally, if we're talking about white male rock singers, I think that Roger Daltrey, at his 1970s best, is more or less unrivaled. Rolling Stone ranks him at #109.
