Completely new to me. Taylor's appears like he refuses to play any guitar...

Who is the drummer?

He seems to work on the basis of "more is more" but really his style for Rolling Stones songs is "more is less".

Anton Fig. Played on the 'She's the Boss' album. He was the drummer on Paul Shaffer's house band on the David Letterman show, which presumably is why he's on this.

Maybe because he's not one of those guitar 'show ponies'...happy to let Mick take the spotlight

Taylor may have felt out of place with "Start Me Up" as a showcase. Those early ceremonies were unrehearsed jams more about laughter and good times than capturing a musical moment.

Shaffer's band were all over the Stones at that time. Anton Fig also plays on DIRTY WORK alongside fellow Shaffer drummers Steve Jordan and Charley Drayton. While the latter two are more closely associated with Keith and Ronnie, Jordan also played drums on "Ruthless People" for Mick in the same era.

What's there to play? Coke fuelled Keith bragging out "Start me up" in a great manner and some other guitarist noodling nonsense in an unrehearsed setting. Some musicians do know when not to play it seems.
