A dozen or so shows, including the Stones (Paris, bien sur), Queen, etc... but by far, the best show was KISS! Only those who saw this tour will understand.

KISS get a lot of flak from everyone but they put on a great show! Saw the opening night of the farewell tour in Vancouver 2019. Excellent stage show with tons of pyro.

Yeah Excellent SHOW. lots of pyro. Though in PERTH only 3 months ago it seemed fairly obvious they mimed a lot, which is indexcusable. I know they will never get here again, but I wouldn’t pay to see them again given that little ‘act’.

As of last night I successfully recorded 150 bands for 2022 and still have 6 to 10 more to go.

In order of most times

Ben Harper X7
The Smile X5 (well, assuming success for last two)
Rolling Stones X4
Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs X4
Roger Waters X4
The War on Drugs X3

How was The Smile live? I have no idea how I didn’t even know about their Ryman show. Kicking myself so hard!

Just saw them again last night. Wow, getting better as the tour has progressed. Would have been fun at the Ryman too.

Queen & Adam Lambert x1
Rolling Stones x4

I saw the same four bands in these quantities (albeit with slightly different line ups) in 1982!

Plus
Status Quo
Eagles
Guns n Roses
Taylor Hawkins Tribute (Wembley)

How did you like Yves Tumor? They opened both NIN shows I went to & I thought they were quite good. Good choice to open for NIN. The second NIN show I saw (Bend OR) was my favorite show of the year. The show 2 days earlier in Portland was almost as good but the venue was way better in Bend. I saw some other excellent shows this year. I have to be picky as I'm on a fixed income. I've seen everyone I need to anyway in the past 45+ years.

This year is the least amount of gigs I’ve been to since 1992.
Saw a couple of local bands, John Fogerty and a Black Sabbath tribute band.
I’m kinda done with the bigger gigs, and I’ve seen everyone I ever dreamt or wished or hoped to. Some more times than any man had a right to. Gigs have changed in some way over the last 10 years, not all of them or all bands, but the music means less the hits mean more and people look bored in between. Club gigs or bar gigs are different, it’s more what I remember live music being like. Natural drum sound and people watching the support bands.

Them or him? Anyway — I like him. I don’t own the CDs though. I had seen him before at All Points East 2019. His performance is intense, edgy and engaging, onstage presence immense, often giving a scary, terrifying vibe. The guitar guy delivers a hell of a noise, which sounds so heavy metal-ish. Together they bombard the audience with sound waves and throw them into the gorgeous chaos if my English narrative makes sense. At Green Man this year he took the main stage prior to Thursday headliners Metronomy for an hour’s performance which impressed the crowd. A radical, cutting-age black artist who is worth watching.

In all honesty I spent too much money and time for gigs and festivals this year. With the ongoing and seemingly unstoppable price hike of the living cost, I am considering refraining from too many concerts next year.

Quote

Aight, so, all told:

The Rolling Stones , Munich
Eric Clapton , Tampere
Guns N' Roses, Warsaw
The IORR Band, London
The Rolling Stones, London
the Dirty Strangers, London
The Rolling Stones, London
The Rolling Stones, Amsterdam
The Hollies (Official) , Düsseldorf
Pearl Jam , Krakow
The Rolling Stones, Paris
Danko Jones, Stockholm
The Rolling Stones, Stockholm
+ all of them opening acts.

Helluva ride! Go do that over eight weeks.

But the most memorable show this year had to be Michael Monroe's 60th Birthday Bash where the Hanoi Rocks' original lineup reunited for the first time in 40 years!

Cool to meet Dan there too!

And we were at the same venue, same date, the O2 Forum Kentish Town, the 5th of May. Confidence Man was fun to watch. Brilliant choreography. So much 80’s vibe.
I was sitting on an unreserved seat on the front balcony and I noticed the video shooting was going on. When the show was over, I talked to the staff member and he told me they were planning to release the Forum show on DVD/BD. I haven’t since heard the further info, though.

I am a Green Man first timer. It had been in my bucket list for a long time and I finally made it this year. Fabulous festival in the beautiful setting of Brecon Beacons National Park. Up to 2018, I was a regular attendee of the now-defunct Festival No. 6 in Portmeirion (‘The Village’ in The Prisoner, the cult science fiction/spy thriller tv series of the ‘60s). Another festival I set my eyes on for possible future attendance is End Of The Road in Larmer Tree Gardens. Never been to Glastonbury, unfortunately.

haven't been to glastonbury since the 90s

but green man every year since 2005 now - it is, indeed, a wonderful place

hoping to get to end of the road for the first time in 2023

just tricky that it's only a fortnight after GM...

i know a number of people who are upset at the demise of festival no. 6

My Top 10 shows of 2022:

10. James Taylor - Hamburg: Great band, beautiful concert

9. Iggy Pop - Hamburg: Very energetic, nice obscure songs, Neu! cover with Michael Rother

8. Eric Clapton - Düsseldorf: Very strong concert, good sound + songs, E.C.'s good mood helped.

7. Dinosaur Jr. - Hamburg: Any Dinosaur Jr. concert will always get a spot in my Top Ten. Such a great band!

6. Tool - Hamburg: Not my kind of music, but the performance/Show/spectacle AMAZING

5. Guns 'N' Roses - Hannover: I saw them in London before, very disapointing. At the last concert of the tour they were back in their old glory; very enjoyable show.

4. The Cure - Hamburg: Three hours + with about 30 songs. What's not to like?

3. The Rolling Stones - Brussells: The best of the bunch of their concerts I saw this year.

2. Genesis - Hannover: I never cared or liked Genesis, but this concert made me a fan!

1.Bob Dylan - Krefeld: That's it, the best concert of the year.

I think he is hit and miss now.

Hollywood Bowl - so so

My sister who lives in Las Vegas always wanted to see him so I snagged her and her BF great tix in a price crash and I thought the show was really good. Then my friend went the next night and said it was terrible, his voice was shot and he even admitted to staying up all night to watch a soccer game.

I enjoyed his show in Vegas, too. At one point I saw a fantastic private show with him. It was at music retailers convention. He played the stuff you'd want to hear by him & ditched the schmaltzy stuff.
